Dynamics of Cell Fate Decisions during Chemically Induced Multi‐Lineage Trans‐Differentiation at Single‐Cell Level

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A critical aspect of chromosomal remodeling in small molecule‐induced multilineage trans‐differentiation(iMT) is elucidated. A dynamic atlas spanning over 35 days profiles terminal trans‐differentiated cells, which reverted to a more youthful state. This study reveals parallels between iMT and other cell fate determination processes, emphasizing an ...

Fungi stabilize multi‐kingdom community in a high elevation timberline ecosystem

open access: yesiMeta, Volume 1, Issue 4, December 2022., 2022
Multi‐kingdom network construction increased network complexity. Multi‐kingdom network construction increased negative edge proportion. Fungi stabilized multi‐kingdom network structure. Fungi linked above‐ and below‐ground biota at the community level.

Optical Probes for Cellular Imaging of G‐quadruplexes: Beyond Fluorescence Intensity Probes

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
DNA and RNA can fold into tetra‐stranded helical structures known as G‐quadruplexes (G4s). There is mounting evidence suggesting that these structures have important biological roles. In this minireview we discuss advances in the design of optical probes for the detection of G4s that offer intensity‐independent readouts that address limitations of ...

Alterations of the mitochondrial proteome caused by the absence of mitochondrial DNA: A proteomic view [PDF]

open access: yesElectrophoresis 27 (04/2006) 1574-83, 2006
The proper functioning of mitochondria requires that both the mitochondrial and the nuclear genome are functional. To investigate the importance of the mitochondrial genome, which encodes only 13 subunits of the respiratory complexes, the mitochondrial rRNAs and a few tRNAs, we performed a comparative study on the 143B cell line and on its Rho-0 ...

Screening and Identification of Novel DNA Aptamer for Targeted Delivery to Injured Podocytes in Glomerular Diseases

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study develops RLS‐2, a high‐affinity aptamer that specifically targets injured podocytes, making it a promising candidate for targeted drug delivery. In vitro, RLS‐2 shows stability, specificity, efficient siRNA delivery via AsiCs, and uptake by podocytes.

Gut microbiota composition in the sympatric and diet‐sharing Drosophila simulans and Dicranocephalus wallichii bowringi shaped largely by community assembly processes rather than regional species pool

open access: yesiMeta, Volume 1, Issue 4, December 2022., 2022
The diversity, composition, and network of gut microbiota differed between the sympatric and diet‐sharing Drosophila simulans and Dicranocephalus wallichii bowringi. Host species shape the bacterial and fungal community in two insect hosts by altering the relative contribution of community assembly processes.

New records of Indigofera cordifolia Heyne ex Roth. (Fabales: Fabaceae) in Saudi Arabia based on morphological and molecular evidence

open access: yesJournal of Asia-Pacific Biodiversity, 2020
Indigofera cordifolia Heyne ex Roth. so far is reported only in the Arabian Peninsula from Oman. A recent field expedition in the Farasan Archipelago, Saudi Arabia, Red Sea, resulted in documentation of this species in Dumsuk Island.

Fusarium oxysporum Causes Root Rot on Gastrodia elata in Korea: Morphological, Phylogenetic, and Pathogenicity Analyses

open access: yes한국균학회지, 2022
Gastrodia elata infected with root rot disease was collected from cultivated G. elata fields in Gimcheon, Korea, in 2018. G. elata tuber surfaces exhibited root rot disease symptoms of dark-grey lesions and white fungal mycelial growth.

How adaptive immunity constrains the composition and fate of large bacterial populations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Features of the CRISPR-Cas system, in which bacteria integrate small segments of phage genome (spacers) into their DNA to neutralize future attacks, suggest that its effect is not limited to individual bacteria but may control the fate and structure of whole populations.

Nontranscribed spacer sequences promotein vitrotranscription ofDrosophilaribosomal DNA [PDF]

open access: yesNucleic Acids Research, 1982
Tandem repeats of ribosomal RNA transcription units in Drosophila melanogaster are separated by a nontranscribed spacer that is comprised in part of serial repeats of a 0.24 kb sequence. DNA sequence analysis shows that such repeats are imperfect copies of a region that includes the site of in vivo rRNA transcription initiation (ca.
