ZNHIT3 Regulates Translation to Ensure Cell Lineage Differentiation in Mouse Preimplantation Development

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Box C/D snoRNP complex regulates protein translation. This study identifies ZNHIT3 as a key component of the complex and ensures normal protein expression, including transcription factors orchestrating cell fate commitment, during early mouse embryogenesis.

ARISA data from the human gut microbiome can detect individual differences observed by 454 sequencing regardless of binning strategy [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2012
ARISA (Automated Ribosomal Intergenic Spacer Analysis) is a low-cost technique that allows for the rapid comparison of different microbial environments. In this study, we asked if a set of ARISA profiles can distinguish human microbial environments from one another with the same accuracy as results generated from 454 high throughput DNA sequencing ...

High Sugar Induced RCC2 Lactylation Drives Breast Cancer Tumorigenicity Through Upregulating MAD2L1

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study finds that KAT2A mediates the lactylation modification of the non‐histone protein RCC2 at K124, facilitating the recruitment of free SERBP1 and aiding in the formation of the initial SERBP1‐MAD2L1 complex. SERBP1 enhances the stability of MAD2L1 mRNA and promotes cellular proliferation.

A Newly Identified Phallus (Phallaceae, Basidiomycota) Species, P. hadriani, in South Korea

open access: yes한국균학회지, 2020
As part of the mushroom surveys in the unexplored areas of Korea in 2019 and 2020, a phalloid fungus was found in a saline sand beach. The specimen was mainly characterized by its reticulate pileus and violet volva with well-developed rhizomorphs.

Length polymorphism in the ribosomal DNA intergenic spacers of Lens species

open access: yesSpanish Journal of Agricultural Research, 2005
Analysis of the ribosomal DNA (rDNA) intergenic spacers (IGS) (i.e., the IGS of 18S, 5.8S and 24S rDNA, and the NTS or non-transcribed spacer of 5S rDNA) of lentil cultivars and landraces (L. culinaris spp. culinaris) showed to have very low intraspecific length variability.

Plac1+ Tumor Cell‐Treg Interplay Supports Tumorigenesis and Progression of Head and Neck Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Meng et al. screen genes in the CTAs family and find Plac1 is specifically expressed in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) cells. They reveal that Plac1 expression promotes HNSCC progression directly by activating PI3K/AKT signaling pathway.

Modular Golden Gate Assembly of Linear DNA Templates for Cell-free Prototyping [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
Cell-free transcription and translation (TXTL) systems have emerged as a powerful tool for testing genetic regulatory elements and circuits. Cell-free prototyping can dramatically accelerate the design-build-test cycle of new functions in synthetic biology, in particular when linear DNA templates are used.

PCR amplification and characterization of the intergenic spacer region of the ribosomal DNA in Pyrenophora graminea [PDF]

open access: yesFEMS Microbiology Letters, 1998
Successful amplification of the whole intergenic spacer region of the nuclear ribosomal repeat (IGS) in Pyrenophora graminea was obtained with a PCR-based assay. Single amplification products showed length differences. Depending on the length of the IGS-PCR product, ca. 3.8 or 4.4 kb, two groups of isolates could be identified.

Flavonifractor Plautii or Its Metabolite Desaminotyrosine as Prophylactic Agents for Alleviating Myocardial Ischemia/Reperfusion Injury

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The gut microbiome is a potential target for treating cardiovascular disease. It is found that prophylactic administration of Flavonifractor plautii or its metabolite desaminotyrosine (DAT) exerts pleiotropic cardioprotective effects via promoting cardiomyocyte survival and attenuating cardiac inflammation against myocardial ischemia/reperfusion (I/R ...
