Estimation of the number of nucleotide substitutions in the control region of mitochondrial DNA in humans and chimpanzees.

open access: yesMolecular biology and evolution, 1993
Examining the pattern of nucleotide substitution for the control region of mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) in humans and chimpanzees, we developed a new mathematical method for estimating the number of transitional and transversional substitutions per site, as

Structural insights into the gating of DNA passage by the topoisomerase II DNA-gate. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Type IIA topoisomerases (Top2s) manipulate the handedness of DNA crossovers by introducing a transient and protein-linked double-strand break in one DNA duplex, termed the DNA-gate, whose opening allows another DNA segment to be transported through to ...

FlavonoidSearch: A system for comprehensive flavonoid annotation by mass spectrometry

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2017
Currently, in mass spectrometry-based metabolomics, limited reference mass spectra are available for flavonoid identification. In the present study, a database of probable mass fragments for 6,867 known flavonoids (FsDatabase) was manually constructed ...

Cyclization of Short DNA Fragments [PDF]

open access: yesPhysica A482, 569 (2017), 2017
From the per unit length free energy for DNA under tension, we have calculated an effective contour length dependent persistence length for short DNA. This effective persistence length results from the enhanced fluctuations in short DNA. It decreases for shorter DNA, making shorter DNA more flexible.

A simple salting out procedure for extracting DNA from human nucleated cells.

open access: yesNucleic Acids Research, 1988
One of the obstacles encountered when extracting DNA from a large number of samples is the cumbersome method of deprotein-izing cell digests with the hazardous organic solvents phenol and isochloroform.

AFLP: a new technique for DNA fingerprinting.

open access: yesNucleic Acids Research, 1995
A novel DNA fingerprinting technique called AFLP is described. The AFLP technique is based on the selective PCR amplification of restriction fragments from a total digest of genomic DNA.

DNA polymorphisms amplified by arbitrary primers are useful as genetic markers.

open access: yesNucleic Acids Research, 1990
Molecular genetic maps are commonly constructed by analyzing the segregation of restriction fragment length polymorphisms (RFLPs) among the progeny of a sexual cross.
