Development of a Species Diagnostic Molecular Tool for an Invasive Pest, Mythimna loreyi, Using LAMP
The Mythimna loreyi (Duponchel) is one of the well-known invasive noctuid pests in Africa, Australia, and many Asian countries. However, it is difficult to identify the invasive and morphologically similar species, Mythimna separate, which occur at the ...

Taxonomy of anaerobic digestion microbiome reveals biases associated with the applied high throughput sequencing strategies [PDF]
In the past few years, many studies investigated the anaerobic digestion microbiome by means of 16S rRNA amplicon sequencing. Results obtained from these studies were compared to each other without taking into consideration the followed procedure for ...

The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Identification of type A and B isolates of Epstein-Barr virus by polymerase chain reaction [PDF]
A method is described for the identification of type A and type B isolates of Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) by means of the polymerase chain reaction. The use of three pairs of primers specific for genomic sequences coding for the two forms of EBV nuclear ...

Primer Extension Analysis of HBV DNA with Strand-Specific Primers
We performed primer extension assay to determine which steps of HBV DNA synthesis (i.e., minus- and plus-strand DNA synthesis and circularization of RC DNA) are affected by phosphoacceptor site mutations in C protein. In these experiments, we used several specific oligonucleotide primers.
