Mechanical Caging of Nucleic Acids Enabled by Light‐Activated Synthetic Molecular Motors
A synthetic light‐driven molecular motor imposes mechanical constraints on nucleic acids, enabling “mechanical caging” as a new mode to regulate DNA structure and function through mechanical input rather than chemical masking. ABSTRACT Control over nucleic acid activity is central to biotechnology and therapeutic development.

DNA topology: Topoisomerases keep it simple [PDF]
The ability of type II DNA topoisomerases to perturb the equilibrium distributions of DNA topoisomers is a consequence of their ability to hydrolyse ATP.

A GSH‐responsive AIE nanoplatform (TSH NPs) with RGD‐mediated tumor targeting co‐delivers a photosensitizer (TPA) and HCPT for extrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma. The system synergistically enhances PDT and chemotherapy by suppressing HIF‐1α/VEGF‐driven hypoxic adaptation, effectively overcoming PDT resistance.

A role for topoisomerase II alpha in chromosome damage in human cell lines [PDF]
Human response to ionising radiation (IR) shows a wide variation. This is most clearly seen in the radiation-response of cells as measured by frequencies of chromosomal aberrations.

Supercoiled DNA recognition and cleavage control in topoisomerase VI
Type II topoisomerases modulate DNA supercoiling and resolve chromosome entanglements. Type IIB topoisomerases, exemplified by DNA topoisomerase VI (Top6), are used by plants and archaea to support endoreduplication and cell proliferation, respectively ...

Clinical Significance of Expression of Topoisomerase 2а in Breast Cancer
Topoisomerases are enzymes that control the topology of DNA. Topoisomerases are divided into types 1 and 2, depending on the mechanism of action. The article discusses the structure and mechanisms of the action of topoisomerases, the possibility of an ...

Topoisomerases inhibition and DNA binding mode of daunomycin–oligoarginine conjugate
Cancer is a major health issue adsorbing the attention of a biomedical research. To fight this disease, new drugs are developed, specifically tailored to target biological pathways or peculiar components of the tumour cells.

Tightening of DNA knots by supercoiling facilitates their unknotting by type II DNA topoisomerases [PDF]
Using numerical simulations, we compare properties of knotted DNA molecules that are either torsionally relaxed or supercoiled. We observe that DNA supercoiling tightens knotted portions of DNA molecules and accentuates the difference in curvature ...

Fluorescent BODIPY‐conjugated thiosemicarbazone ligands and their Ga(III), In(III), and Fe(III) complexes, inspired by Triapine, are developed as theranostic agents. Multiphoton FLIM and confocal microscopy in cancer cells and zebrafish reveal real‐time uptake, mitochondrial localisation, and whilst spectroscopic assays indicated preserved complex ...

DNA topoisomerases as targets for anticancer drugs
DNA topoisomerases are essential enzymes that regulate the conformational changes in DNA topology by catalysing the concerted breakage and rejoining of DNA strands during normal cellular growth.
