From Nucleobases to Bioactive NHC‐Based Gold and Silver Complexes With Anticancer and Antiviral Activity

open access: yesChemMedChem, Volume 21, Issue 16, 27 August 2026.
Herein, we reported the design and synthesis of a novel series of N‐heterocyclic carbene (NHC) complexes originated from the imidazole ring of guanine and guanosine and with different counterions (iodide, acetate, and aminoacidate). The evaluation of the biological activities, that is anticancer and antiviral, indicated L2AuOAc as the best complex ...

Actinomycin Derivatives: Structural Diversification and Biological Activities

open access: yesChemMedChem, Volume 21, Issue 15, 14 August 2026.
Actinomycins are chromopeptide antibiotics exhibiting remarkable structural diversity and broad bioactivity. This review traces their development from naturally occurring D‐, X‐, A‐, G‐, Y‐, and Z‐type analogs to precursor‐directed, synthetic, and semisynthetic derivatives.

1‐(Acetylamino)thioxanthones and Derivatives: Synthesis From 1‐Halogenothioxanthones and Biological Properties

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Organic Chemistry, Volume 29, Issue 30, 12 August 2026.
The conversion of 1‐halogenothioxanthones into 1‐(acetylamino) derivatives and their NaH‐mediated cyclization have been optimized. This rapid method yields thiochromeno[4,3,2‐de]quinol‐2‐ones that exhibit promising in vitro anticancer activity.
