Docking Simulations of Perylene-HSA Binding [PDF]

open access: yesBiophysical Journal, 2012
The study of the binding and effects of polyaromatic hydrocarbons (PAH) to proteins remains one of the fundamental aspects of research in biophysics. Among other processes, ligand binding can regulate the function of proteins including inhibiting their action. Binding to small ligands remains a very important aspect in the study of the function of many

Dual‐Peptide Nanoplatform: Mesoporous Silica Nanoparticles Functionalized With a Cell‐Penetrating Peptide and Loaded With Rationally Designed Antimicrobial Peptides for Tuberculosis Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Machine learning–guided engineering of a plectasin‐derived peptide yields DC05, a potent antimycobacterial candidate. Encapsulation into tuftsin‐functionalized mesoporous silica nanoparticles enhances intracellular delivery, stability, and activity against Mycobacterium tuberculosis while maintaining low cytotoxicity and minimal hemolysis. The combined

Photothermal‐Activated Antibacterial Amyloid‐Polyphenol‐Iron Hydrogels for Synergistic Wound Healing

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
We report a thermally triggered supramolecular hydrogel (LTFe) formed by Fe3+ and tannic acid on lysozyme amyloid fibrils. Fe3+ enables rapid gelation and photothermal transduction with an efficiency of 88.56%. The LTFe hydrogel exhibits excellent biocompatibility, potent antibacterial activity against E. coli and S.

Homology modelling and in silico substrate-binding analysis of a Rhizobium sp. RC1 haloalkanoic acid permease

open access: yesBiotechnology & Biotechnological Equipment, 2018
Rhizobium sp. RC1 grows on haloalkanoic acid (haloacid) pollutants and expresses a haloacid permease (DehrP), which mediates the uptake of haloacids into the cells.

Parallel Electrical Integration of Photo Bio Electrochemical Systems (photo‐BESs): Performance Gains and Load Dependency

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Parallel wiring of bioelectrochemical devices with conventional generators unexpectedly boosts output. A biophotovoltaic paired with a solar cell delivers up to 50% more power at low loads than their separate contributions; a plant microbial fuel cell shows similar current gains.
