Optimizing Radiation Dose in High-Resolution Chest CT: The Impact of Patient-Specific Factors and Size-Specific Dose Estimates

open access: yesDiagnostics
Background/Objectives: High-resolution chest computed tomography (HRCT) is a critical diagnostic tool, but radiation dose optimization remains a significant concern.

Changes in the Diagnostic Reference Levels for Computed Tomography in Japan: A Literature Review to Guide Future Revisions [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Radiation Protection and Research
Radiation is widely used in medicine but has both benefits and risks. Three important points must be taken into account in the medical use of radiation: justification, optimization, and dose limits.

Versatile vector tools for efficient protein screening across multiple expression systems

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
A unified vector toolkit enables rapid protein expression screening across E. coli, insect, and mammalian cells. A single primer pair amplifies the target gene, which is inserted into any vector via a standardized interface. This streamlined workflow eliminates repeated cloning steps, accelerating the identification of optimal expression conditions for

Cyclic azapeptide CD36 ligand attenuates cardiac injury and reduces long‐chain fatty acid accumulation after myocardial ischemia–reperfusion in mice

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
In a murine model of myocardial ischemia and reperfusion (MI/R), the CD36 azapeptide ligand MPE‐298 reduces cardiac injury and transiently lowers left ventricular long‐chain fatty acids (LCFAs) accumulation 3 h after reperfusion, accompanied by a decrease of oxidative stress and inflammation‐associated genes' expression in the heart and adipose tissue.

Impact of ct tube voltage and anode current on pet/ct image quality a NEMA IQ Phantom Study [PDF]

open access: yesNuclear Technology and Radiation Protection
Positron emission tomography/computer tomography is a crucial modality for the quantification of metabolic activity and anatomical structure. Reducing radiation dose, especially in repeated imaging, remains a significant challenge.

TOWARD NATIONAL CT DIAGNOSTIC REFERENCE LEVELS IN THE UNITED ARAB EMIRATES: A MULTICENTER REVIEW OF CT DOSE INDEX AND DOSE LENGTH PRODUCT

open access: yesRadiation Protection Dosimetry, 2020
Abstract This multicenter study evaluated computed tomography dose index volume (CTDIvol) and dose length product (DLP) to contribute to establishing computed tomography (CT) national diagnostic reference levels (NDRLs) in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

From energy provision to protein synthesis: Tunnelling nanotubes as mediators of intercellular metabolic cooperation in cancer

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The cytoskeleton‐mediated transport of mitochondria via tunnelling nanotubes restores respiration, increases ATP production, rescues cells from apoptosis, activates the AKT/mTOR signalling pathway, promotes cell migration and invasiveness, contributes to cancer progression and treatment resistance.

Nonparametric Estimators of Dose-Response Functions [PDF]

open access: yes
We propose two semiparametric estimators of the dose-response function based on spline techniques. Under uncounfoundedness, the generalized propensity score can be used to estimate dose-response functions (DRF) and marginal treatment effect functions. In

Whole Body Low Dose Computed Tomography Using Third-Generation Dual-Source Multidetector With Spectral Shaping: Protocol Optimization and Literature Review

open access: yesDose-Response, 2020
For decades, the main imaging tool for multiple myeloma (MM) patient’s management has been the conventional skeleton survey. In 2014 international myeloma working group defined the advantages of the whole-body low dose computed tomography (WBLDCT) as a ...
