Adenosine is upregulated during peritonitis and is involved in downregulation of inflammation [PDF]

open access: yesKidney International, 2006
Loss of function of the peritoneal membrane is associated with peritonitis. Adenosine levels in sites of inflammation were shown to increase and exhibit immunoregulatory effects. Our aim was to elucidate the regulatory role of adenosine during peritonitis and to test the involvement of peritoneal mesothelial cells (PMC) in adenosine regulation.

Probiotics Upregulate Trefoil Factors and Downregulate Pepsinogen in the Mouse Stomach [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Molecular Sciences, 2019
Probiotics are used in the management of some gastrointestinal diseases. However, little is known about their effects on normal gastric epithelial biology. The aim of this study was to explore how the probiotic mixture VSL#3 affects gastric cell lineages in mice with a special focus on protective and aggressive factors.

Moscatilin suppresses the inflammation from macrophages and T cells

open access: yesOpen Medicine, 2022
In this study, we aim to investigate moscatilin in alleviating symptoms of autoimmune liver disease (ALD) in a concanavalin A (ConA)-induced liver injury mouse model and elucidate the underlying mechanisms.

Upregulated sulfatase and downregulated MMP-3 in thoracic aortic aneurysm

open access: yesAdvances in Clinical and Experimental Medicine, 2020
Thoracic aortic aneurysm (TAA) formation is accompanied by degradation of extracellular matrix components (EMC). Numerous matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) have been implicated in the process, but the involvement of MMP-3 remains unclear. Additionally, the changes in proteoglycan (PG) structure can alter the signal transduction pathways in TAA, though ...

IFI35 is involved in the regulation of the radiosensitivity of colorectal cancer cells

open access: yesCancer Cell International, 2021
Background Interferon regulatory factor-1 (IRF1) affects the proliferation of colorectal cancer (CRC). Recombinant interferon inducible protein 35 (IFI35) participates in immune regulation and cell proliferation.

Downregulation of α-galactosidase A upregulates CD77: functional impact for Fabry nephropathy [PDF]

open access: yesKidney International, 2009
Anderson-Fabry disease, an inherited deficiency in the lysosomal enzyme alpha-galactosidase A, is characterized by the progressive accumulation of globotriaosylceramide (Gb3), also known as CD77. We sought to clarify the pathogenesis of Fabry disease by establishing a cell model of this disorder.
