Free radical scavenging (DPPH) potential in nine Mentha species

Toxicology and Industrial Health, 2011
Mentha species are used in every day life in various food items. These species produce valuable secondary metabolites that scavenge toxic free radicals. Toxic free radicals can cause different diseases in the human body. In the present study free radical scavenging potential (1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl scavenging activity) in nine Mentha species ...

Acylhydrazide Schiff Bases: DPPH Radical and Superoxide Anion Scavengers

Medicinal Chemistry, 2012
Acylhydrazide Schiff bases 1-27 were evaluated for their in vitro DPPH radical and superoxide anion scavenging activity. They showed a varying degree of DPPH radical scavenging activity with IC(50) values between 31.25-473.59 µM. Compounds 8, 2, and 10 have IC(50) values 31.25 ± 1.32, 34.40 ± 0.66, and 37.24 ± 0.4 µM, respectively.

Kinetics of quercetin and DPPH radical reaction

2022

The study of the free radical DPPH in pulsed magnetic fields

Physica B: Condensed Matter, 1989
Abstract Isothermal differential susceptibility measurements in pulsed magnetic fields up to 25 T in the spin system of orthorhombic DPPH were performed at liquid helium temperatures. The measurements in the level-crossing region can be well described by a four-spin cluster model.

A thermodynamic investigation of DPPH radical-scavenging mechanisms of folates

Journal of Molecular Structure: THEOCHEM, 2008
Abstract Folates are efficient antioxidants especially in reduced forms, with strong ability to scavenge diversified radicals (such as DPPH radical) and protect lipid from oxidation. However, it remains unknown how the radicals, e.g., DPPH radical, are scavenged by folates.

HYDROGEN TUNNELING IN REACTION OF DOPAMINE AND DPPH RADICAL

Dopamine is biological catecholamine that acts as neurotransmitter in the central nervous system and also as hormone in the peripheral endocrine system. Due to its catechol moiety, dopamine has a function of endogenous antioxidant and its antiradical activity towards several types of reactive oxygen species (ROS) is already known.1,2 The reaction of ...

[Screening DPPH radical scavengers from Monascus sp].

Wei sheng wu xue bao = Acta microbiologica Sinica, 2004
A strain belongs to Monascus sp. was separated from hongqu(Chinese beni-coji) which was used to brew red wine in Changxin county, Zhejiang province, and its DPPH radical scavenging metabolites were studied. Results showed that the yield and radical scavenging activity of neutral extract with EtOAc were higher than that of acid and basic extract.
