A novel spherical wheel driven by chains with guiding wheels
2009 International Conference on Machine Learning and Cybernetics, 2009A novel combination of chains with guiding wheel and spherical wheel unit (CWWU1) is presented in this paper, and its operating principle is basically a spherical wheel driven by two perpendicular pairs of chains with a set of guiding wheels. Thus, a CWWU1 base robot similar to the previous CWWU (combination of Omni wheel and spherical wheel unit) can ...

Modeling of a spherical robot driven by Omni wheels
2011 International Conference on Machine Learning and Cybernetics, 2011This paper mainly derives the model of the invented spherical robot using Omni wheels to drive a spherical wheel. The dynamical model is derived based on Euler Lagrange approach. The general form of the robot is also presented. It is noted that the control input of the attitude of robot body originally is the torque exerted by two pairs of Omni wheels ...

A stabilization control of two wheels driven wheelchair
2009 IEEE/RSJ International Conference on Intelligent Robots and Systems, 2009The paper describes a stabilization control of two wheels driven wheelchair based on pitch angle disturbance observer (PADO). PADO makes it possible to stabilize the wheelchair motion and remove casters. This brings a sophisticated mobility of wheelchair because the casters are obstacle to realize step passage motion and so on.

Motion Planning of Wheeled Mobile Robot Driven by Differential Wheels
Key Engineering Materials, 2008This paper studies the problem of motion planning of wheeled mobile robot (WMR), which is driven by double wheels separately. It mainly accomplish the motion planning of WMR by taking center of one of double wheels as a base point, and also carry out this problem by traditional method, which takes the midpoint of interval between two wheels as a base ...

Cascade sliding mode control of a spherical wheel robot driven by Omni wheels
2012 International Conference on Machine Learning and Cybernetics, 2012The target of the paper is a spherical robot using Omni wheels to drive a spherical wheel, and its position control based on the cascade sliding model control (CSMC) has been studied. The structure of the CSMC is cascade combination of states of this dynamic model and a series of sliding surfaces.

Realization by Biped Leg-wheeled Robot of Biped Walking and Wheel-driven Locomotion
Proceedings of the 2005 IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation, 2006Biped walking is easily adaptable to rough terrain such as stairs and stony paths, but the walk speed and energy efficiency on the flat ground is not so effective compared with wheeled locomotion. In this paper, we propose a biped robot to be able to walk or wheel according to the ground conditions. For wheeled locomotion, WS-2 (Waseda Shoes -No. 2) is

Purchaser-Driven Reform: Who Is at the Wheel?
Frontiers of Health Services Management, 1993Robert E. Hurley's article accomplishes several major objectives in that it prompts one to think past this year and the next about changes that are occurring in our health care system. More important, it makes the point of the inexorable nature of those changes aside from what may occur nationally or locally in terms of legislation.

Dynamics of a Wheeled Cart Driven by a Savonius Rotor
Mekhatronika, Avtomatizatsiya, Upravlenie, 2021Savonius rotor is one of relatively wide-spread type of wind turbines. The rotation rate of this rotor is considerably lower than that of horizontal axis wind turbines and Darrieus wind turbines. However, it starts rotating at small wind speeds, doesn’t require any additional devices to ensure its re-orientation in case of change of the wind direction,

A nonlinear stability controller for rear wheel driven vehicles
Proceedings of the 41st IEEE Conference on Decision and Control, 2002., 2003In this paper, we suggest a robust controller which maintains "no-skid" while following a separate control goal. The system description is based on a bicycle model in which the no-slip condition is represented as a set of four non-holonomic constraints and each constraint defines a sliding manifold.
