Substance misuse assessment in mental health services: the importance of professional curiosity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Co-morbidity of mental health and substance misuse problems (or "Dual Diagnosis") is highly prevalent in mental health and drug treatment services. The parallel approach, where the two conditions are treated at the same time in separate services, is the ...

TP53BP2 Promotes Placental Autophagy and Preeclampsia via G9a and DNMT1 Cooperatively Modulating E2F1

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
G9a, and DNA Methyltransferase1 (DNMT1) cooperatively modulates E2F1 on the promoter of tumor suppressor p53‐binding protein 2 (TP53BP2) increased autophagy in preeclampsia. TP53BP2 promotes autophagy in trophoblasts through DNA methylation and H3K9me2‐mediated transcriptional regulation.

How to Misuse Drugs

open access: yesCurationis, 1978
Most of us, during our training, are taught about the actions of drugs and their side-effects, but very few of us are taught how to misuse drugs. However, this is an art that seems to be acquired through practice in handling drugs, by various members of the medical and nursing professions, as well as by the general population. The purpose of this paper

A Glucose‐Responsive Intelligent Antibacterial and Oxygen‐Producing Hydrogel Promotes the Healing of Diabetic Wounds by Regulating Cellular Heterogeneity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We have developed a glucose‐triggered on‐demand drug delivery CF‐CPGaMPN hydrogel based on borate ester bonds. It inactivates microbes, releases oxygen, and enables on‐demand drug release in high‐glucose environments to promote healing of diabetic wounds. Single‐cell sequencing reveals that the CF‐CPGaMPN hydrogel significantly alleviates dysfunctional

Precise Construction of an Antimicrobial Peptide Targeting Bacterial Cell Membranes Derived From Natural Peptides

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
An AMP (P 3‐3R‐8I) based on natural peptides, which can target bacterial cell membranes, was precisely constructed via amino acid mutation. P 3‐3R‐8I exhibits antibacterial capability which could be attributed to the ability of P 3‐3R‐8I to quickly penetrate bacterial cell membranes and then to bind to bacterial DNA.

Conversion of Transplanted Mature Hepatocytes into Afp+ Reprogrammed Cells for Liver Regeneration After Injury

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Donor‐derived tdTomato+ mature hepatocytes were FACS‐isolated and transplanted into Fah−/− host mice. During regeneration, these cells convert into proliferative, unipotent Afp+ rHeps. Their plasticity is governed by a PPARγ/AFP‐dependent metabolic switch, segregating into pro‐proliferative Afplow and pro‐survival Afphigh subpopulations.

SMart Nanoparticle–Hydrogel Hybrid System for Synergistic Eradication of Infection and Promotion of Wound Healing

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The integrated system, comprising bacterial‐targeted photothermal nanoparticles (Fe2O3‐CS@RBP) and multifunctional hydrogels (PAOC‐3@BA) modules, achieves rapid wound healing within one week. This work introduces a smart therapeutic platform that integrates bacterial targeting, self‐regulating photothermal therapy, tissue adhesion, and stimulus ...
