Detection of drug resistance mutations of hepatitis C virus in patients with failure of the treatment with direct acting antivirals

open access: yesЖурнал микробиологии, эпидемиологии и иммунобиологии, 2021
Background. The development of direct acting antivirals (DAAs) has spurred a revolution in treatment of patients with chronic hepatitis C. However, there are cases showing no response to treatment.

Adaptive HIV-1 evolutionary trajectories are constrained by protein stability [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Despite the use of combination antiretroviral drugs for the treatment of HIV-1 infection, the emergence of drug resistance remains a problem. Resistance may be conferred either by a single mutation or a concerted set of mutations.

Mechanism of Antiviral Drug Resistance of Vaccinia Virus: Identification of Residues in the Viral DNA Polymerase Conferring Differential Resistance to Antipoxvirus Drugs [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Virology, 2008
ABSTRACTThe acyclic nucleoside phosphonate (ANP) family of drugs shows promise as therapeutics for treating poxvirus infections. However, it has been questioned whether the utility of these compounds could be compromised through the intentional genetic modification of viral sequences by bioterrorists or the selection of drug resistance viruses during ...

EDNRB‐dependent endothelin signaling reduces proliferation and promotes proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition in gliomas

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Glioma cells mainly express the endothelin receptor EDNRB, while EDNRA is restricted to a perivascular tumor subpopulation. Endothelin signaling reduces glioma cell proliferation while promoting migration and a proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition associated with poor prognosis. This pathway activates Ca2+, K+, ERK, and STAT3 signalings and is regulated

Statin (3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl-coenzyme A reductase inhibitor)-based therapy for hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection-related diseases in the era of direct-acting antiviral agents [version 3; referees: 2 approved]

open access: yesF1000Research, 2017
Recent improvements have been made in the treatment of hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection with the introduction of direct-acting antiviral agents (DAAs).

Modeling viral infectious diseases and development of antiviral therapies using human induced pluripotent stem cell-derived systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The recent biotechnology breakthrough of cell reprogramming and generation of induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs), which has revolutionized the approaches to study the mechanisms of human diseases and to test new drugs, can be exploited to generate ...

Engineered extracellular vesicles enriched with the miR‐214/199a cluster enhance the efficacy of chemotherapy in ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the miR‐214/199a cluster is associated with recurrence in ovarian cancer. Engineered small extracellular vesicles (m214‐sEVs) elevate miR‐214‐3p/miR‐199a‐5p in tumor cells, suppress β‐catenin, TLR4, and YKT6 signaling, reprogram tumor‐derived sEV cargo, reduce chemoresistance and migration, and enhance carboplatin efficacy and survival in ...

Low-Level HIV-I Replication and the Dynamics of the Resting CD4(+) T Cell Reservoir for HIV-I in the Setting of HAART [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
In the setting of highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART), plasma levels of human immunodeficiency type-I (HIV-I) rapidly decay to below the limit of detection of standard clinical assays.

Nationwide Estimates of Viral Load Suppression and Acquired HIV Drug Resistance in Cameroon [PDF]

open access: yesEClinicalMedicine, 2018
Population-based studies to estimate viral load (VL) suppression and rate of acquired HIV drug resistance (ADR) are essential in sub-Saharan Africa. We conducted the first nationally representative study estimating VL suppression and ADR in Cameroon.Eligible participants were patients on antiretroviral therapy (ART) for 12 to 24 months (ART 12-24) or ...

CCDC80 suppresses high‐grade serous ovarian cancer migration via negative regulation of B7‐H3

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PAX8 is a lineage‐specific master regulator of transcription in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSC) progression. We show for the first time that PAX8 facilitates proliferation and metastasis by repressing the cell autonomous tumor suppressor CCDC80 and inducing B7‐H3 expression.
