Genotypic variation in phosphorus efficiency between wheat cultivars grown under greenhouse and field conditions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Phosphorus (P) efficiency (relative growth), which is described as the ratio of shoot dry matter or grain yield at deficient P supply to that obtained under adequate P supply, was compared in 25 winter wheat cultivars grown under greenhouse and field ...

Pre‐analytical optimization of cell‐free DNA and extracellular vesicle‐derived DNA for mutation detection in liquid biopsies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pre‐analytical handling critically determines liquid biopsy performance. This study defines practical best‐practice conditions for cell‐free DNA (cfDNA) and extracellular vesicle–derived DNA (evDNA), showing how processing time, storage conditions, tube type, and plasma input volume affect DNA integrity and mutation detection.

Effects of forage supplements on milk production and chemical properties, in vivo digestibility, rumen fermentation and N excretion in dairy cows offered red clover silage and corn silage or dry ground corn [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
peer-reviewedThis study concerned the effects of partial substitution of clover silage with high starch forages on milk production and chemical composition, in vivo digestibility, rumen fermentation pattern and nitrogen excretion of dairy cows.

Mechanical pressure and momentum conservation in dry active matter

open access: yes, 2017
We relate the breakdown of equations of states for the mechanical pressure of generic dry active systems to the lack of momentum conservation in such systems. We show how sources and sinks of momentum arise generically close to confining walls.

Ammonia volatilization, nitrogen in soil, and growth of barley after application of peat manure and pig slurry [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Peat is added to manure, because its low pH and capacity to adsorb ammonia (NH3) give it potential to reduce nitrogen (N) loss. Peat manure was prepared by mixing pig slurry with moderately humified Sphagnum peat. Less than 1% of applied ammoniacal N was

FORAGE AND GRAIN YIELD PERFORMANCES OF SOYBEAN LINES [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Central European Agriculture, 2006
Field experiments were conducted to evaluate the yield and yield components of twelve soybean genotypes as a forage and a grain crop in Marmara Region of Turkey in 2003-2004 growing seasons.

Cell‐cycle‐specific lesion evolution rather than inhibition of double‐strand‐break repair underpins cisplatin radiosensitization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We analyze cisplatin–DNA adducts (CDAs) and double‐strand breaks (DSBs) in a cell‐cycle‐dependent manner. We find that CDAs form similarly across all cell cycle phases. DSBs arise only in S‐phase. CDAs might not directly impair DSB repair, but S‐phase DSB lesions evolve in the presence of CDAs and disrupt repair in G2, also causing radiosensitization ...

Productivity of Alfalfa, Rhodes Grass and Their Mixtures in Arid Conditions Under Sprinklers

open access: yesJournal of Agricultural and Marine Sciences, 2004
The presently existing dominant perennial forages like Rhodes grass, alfalfa and their mixtures were investigated from January 1998 to August 1999 for their productivity as a part of ICARDA’s Arabian Peninsula Research Program (APRP) at Rumais in the ...

A reliable method for predicting bioethanol yield of different varieties of sweet potato by dry matter content

open access: yesGrain & Oil Science and Technology, 2020
In this study, we analyzed the potential of using dry matter content for determining ethanol yield of sweet potatoes as one of the raw materials for bioethanol production. We tested dry matter content, total starch content, crude protein content, glucose
