3-D CFD simulation of oil shale drying in fluidized bed and experimental verification [PDF]

open access: yesOil Shale, 2020
Fluidized bed drying is an economical and high-efficiency deep pre-dehydration technology for oil shale. The mature fluidized bed drying technology, which intensifies the retorting process, was applied to oil shale particles of high moisture content. The

A Model of Forced Drying

open access: yesJournal of Mathematical Analysis and Applications, 1993
A mathematical model of forced drying is studied, showing that there exists a correspondence between the physical situation and the abstract model. The time asymptotic behaviour is established in certain limiting cases including a scalar conservation law on a semi-infinite domain.

Design of a machine (federated) learning based generalized model for predicting drying kinetics of foods

open access: yesCyTA - Journal of Food
Different from the previously published modeling techniques, the federated learning (FL) approach provides a global modeling tool for obtaining a global model for food drying processes. The main aim of this work is to design a trained federated model for

Mathematical modeling and simulation of a solar agricultural dryer with back-up biomass burner and thermal storage

open access: yesCase Studies in Thermal Engineering, 2018
Solar drying is a cost-effective and environmentally friendly method for drying agricultural products. To design a proper solar dryer for specific products, thermodynamic relations for the dryer system need to be considered.

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.
