Impact of Kiln Drying Schedule upon Some Mechanical Properties of Poplar Wood

open access: yesNotulae Scientia Biologicae, 2012
In the present research, the effect of three kiln drying schedules of T5-D2, T5-D4, and T5-D6 on poplar wood mechanical properties was investigated. The lumber was dried in a convectional laboratory kiln and then the compression strength in a parallel ...

Mitigating Cancer Therapy–Related Cognitive Impairment by Targeted Activation of Undruggable Phosphatase

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
An RVG‑engineered exosomal saRNA delivery system (RVG‑EVs‑saPtpro) effectively targets and activates hippocampal PTPRO, functioning as a “molecular brake” to alleviate cancer therapy‑related cognitive impairment (CTRCI) by enhancing neuronal survival, neurogenesis, and synaptic plasticity.

Drying strategies capable of reducing the stress level of a stack of boards as defined by a comprehensive dual scale model

open access: yesMaderas: Ciencia y Tecnología, 2014
During drying, stresses and deformations develop in a wood board due to shrinkage fields which result from moisture content and temperature field variations.

Iron‐Mediated Release of Aged Dissolved Organic Carbon From Waterlogged Peatland Under Warming

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study conducts a five‐year in situ warming experiment in high‐altitude peatlands to examine dissolved organic carbon (DOC) release. The study shows that warming promotes the release of plant‐derived modern DOC in drained peatlands, but amplifies aquatic export of century‐old DOC from waterlogged peatlands via Fe‐mediated DOC mobilization—a ...

Light‐Activatable Nitric Oxide Release via Intramolecular Electron Transfer for Tumor Pyroptosis Induction

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This work proposes a novel strategy to fabricate unimolecular pyroptosis photoinitiators activated by deep‐red light at low light doses. It relies on a photosensitization mechanism to trigger nitric oxide (NO) release from benzisothiadiazole‐based N‐nitrosanilines without modification of nitro moieties, thereby boosting pyroptosis‐mediated ...

DRYING STRATEGIES CAPABLE OF REDUCING THE STRESS LEVEL OF A STACK OF BOARDS AS DEFINED BY A COMPREHENSIVE DUAL SCALE MODEL

open access: yesMaderas: Ciencia y Tecnología, 2008

ANKS1B in the Nucleus Accumbens Controls Escalated Cocaine Self‐Administration via Regulating CBP‐FoxO3 Complex

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ANKS1B in the nucleus accumbens plays a critical role in the transition from controlled to escalated cocaine intake. Mechanistically, ANKS1B interacts with CBP to epigenetically suppress FoxO3 through H3K27 acetylation. The ANKS1B‐CBP‐FoxO3 signaling cascade presents a novel theraputic target for the treatment of cocaine addiction.

Materials‐Guided Gene‐Ionizable Lipid Nanoparticles to Reverse Iron‐Associated Immune Resistance in Renal Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Iron overload is a common metabolic disturbance in cancer and contributes to poor outcomes in renal cell carcinoma (RCC), yet its effects on the tumour immune microenvironment remain unclear. Here we identify a previously unrecognized immunosuppressive axis in which iron overload downregulates the palmitoyltransferase ZDHHC12 in CD8+ T cells ...

COLOUR DEVELOPMENT ON DRYING

open access: yesMaderas: Ciencia y Tecnología, 2005
The drying of wet materials induces a number of physico-chemical changes in the product, often reflected in colour. For dried products sold on appearance, like certain grades of wood, the extent of colour development is highly significant in terms of the
