Mass spectrometry based identification of AMP‐O‐Tris generated by Thermococcus onnurineus Cas10

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Isolated Thermococcus onnurineus Cas10 generates the noncanonical ATP‐derived product AMP‐O‐Tris while in Tris‐containing buffer as identified via mass spectrometry, revealing relaxed nucleophile selectivity under isolated conditions. These findings suggest that multiprotein Csm complex assembly restricts Cas10 reactivity toward canonical cyclic ...

Effect of drying-rewetting on elastic modulus of Portland cement paste and mortar

open access: yes, 1989
The effect of drying and rewetting on the dynamic elastic modulus of 0.4 and 0.6 W/C ratio pastes and mortar were investigated. Drying results in a significant reduction in the dynamic elastic modulus due to the moisture stress gradients.

High temperature drying of sawn timber—A review

open access: yes
Sawn-timber drying is the wood industry’s most time- and energy-consuming process. This process can be more efficient than the conventional method by elevating the dry-bulb temperature to above 100 °C in a high-temperature drying (HTD) process, which for

Long‐term hippocampal alterations and cognitive impairment in a murine model of surgical sepsis

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Using a mouse model of surgical sepsis, we tested long‐term memory and analyzed the transcriptome of single cells isolated from the hippocampus. Survivor mice showed worse memory, loss of certain brain cell subpopulations, and abnormal immune cell activity—suggesting that post‐sepsis brain alterations may be linked to cognitive deficits.

Freeze-drying of pharmaceuticals in vials nested in a rack system [PDF]

open access: yes, 2023
The distribution of biopharmaceuticals often requires lyophilisation. The drug product is first frozen and potentially exposed to stress conditions that can be detrimental to its quality.

Digital Image Correlation (DIC) Method for Detecting Strain in Wood Drying Process

open access: yesBioResources, 2023
Stress and strain monitoring is of great significance for wood drying. Using digital image correlation (DIC), this study measured displacement and strain changes during wood drying in real time.

Derivation and characterization of retinal pigment epithelium from urine‐derived iPSCs

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Age‐related macular degeneration causes vision loss via RPE dysfunction and loss. Traditional iPSC therapies rely on invasive biopsies, limiting scalability. Here, we utilize urine‐derived stem cells as an accessible source to generate u‐iPSCs, successfully differentiated into pigmented RPE. This “Urine‐to‐Retina” platform provides a promising path for
