Affine Wa(A4), Quaternions, and Decagonal Quasicrystals

open access: yes, 2013
We introduce a technique of projection onto the Coxeter plane of an arbitrary higher dimensional lattice described by the affine Coxeter group. The Coxeter plane is determined by the simple roots of the Coxeter graph I2 (h) where h is the Coxeter number ...

Adjunctive Therapeutic Plasma Exchange in Refractory Adult‐Onset Still's Disease Complicated by Secondary Macrophage Activation Syndrome: A Single‐Center Experience

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Adult‐onset Still's disease (AOSD) complicated by macrophage activation syndrome (MAS) carries substantial mortality. The role of therapeutic plasma exchange (TPE) remains uncertain. Methods We retrospectively analyzed patients with AOSD‐MAS treated with TPE at a single‐center.

Predicting Rigid Body Dynamics Using Dual Quaternion Recurrent Neural Networks With Quaternion Attention

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2022
We propose a novel neural network architecture based on dual quaternions which allow for a compact representation of information with a main focus on describing rigid body movements.

Quaternionic and Poisson-Lie structures in 3d gravity: the cosmological constant as deformation parameter

open access: yes, 2007
Each of the local isometry groups arising in 3d gravity can be viewed as the group of unit (split) quaternions over a ring which depends on the cosmological constant.

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

A Broad Class of Discrete-Time Hypercomplex-Valued Hopfield Neural Networks

open access: yes, 2019
In this paper, we address the stability of a broad class of discrete-time hypercomplex-valued Hopfield-type neural networks. To ensure the neural networks belonging to this class always settle down at a stationary state, we introduce novel hypercomplex ...

Spatiotemporal and quantitative analyses of phosphoinositides – fluorescent probe—and mass spectrometry‐based approaches

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative

Quaternions and Small Lorentz Groups in Noncommutative Electrodynamics

open access: yes, 2011
Non-linear electrodynamics arising in the frames of field theories in noncommutative space-time is examined on the base of quaternion formalism. The problem of form-invariance of the corresponding nonlinear constitutive relations governed by six ...

Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.

Quaternionic approach to dual Magneto-hydrodynamics of dyonic cold plasma

open access: yes, 2018
The dual magneto-hydrodynamics of dyonic plasma describes the study of electrodynamics equations along with the transport equations in the presence of electrons and magnetic monopoles.
