Quality selection in young oak stands

open access: yesJournal of Forest Science, 2007
The paper deals with an experiment that was established at Opočno Experimental Station of the Forest and Game Management Research Institute (CR) in an oak small pole stage in 1952 to test whether Schaedelin'’s (1942) tending method worked out for beech

Duality relation between coherence and path information in the presence of quantum memory

open access: yes, 2017
The wave-particle duality demonstrates a competition relation between wave and particle behavior for a particle going through an interferometer. This duality can be formulated as an inequality, which upper bounds the sum of interference visibility and ...

Coupling a QFT to a TQFT and duality [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
A bstractWe consider coupling an ordinary quantum field theory with an infinite number of degrees of freedom to a topological field theory. On $ \mathbb{R} $d the new theory differs from the original one by the spectrum of operators.

Nested T-Duality [PDF]

open access: yesLetters in Mathematical Physics, 2006
We identify the obstructions for T-dualizing the boundary WZW model and make explicit how they depend on the geometry of branes. In particular, the obstructions disappear for certain brane configurations associated to non-regular elements of the Cartan torus.

Mechanisms of parasite‐mediated disruption of brain vessels

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Parasites can affect the blood vessels of the brain, often causing serious neurological problems. This review explains how different parasites interact with and disrupt these vessels, what this means for brain health, and why these processes matter. Understanding these mechanisms may help us develop better ways to prevent or treat brain infections in ...

Vector–Tensor Duality [PDF]

open access: yesModern Physics Letters A, 1997
A dynamical non-Abelian two-form potential gives masses to vector bosons via a topological coupling.1 Unlike in the Abelian case, the two-form cannot be dualized to Goldstone bosons. Duality is restored by coupling a flat connection to the theory in a particular way, and the new action is then dualized to a nonlinear sigma model.

From 3d duality to 2d duality

open access: yes, 2017
In this paper we discuss $3d$ ${\cal N}=2$ supersymmetric gauge theories and their IR dualities when they are compactified on a circle of radius $r$, and when we take the $2d$ limit in which $r\to 0$. The $2d$ limit depends on how the mass parameters are

Time after time – circadian clocks through the lens of oscillator theory

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Oscillator theory bridges physics and circadian biology. Damped oscillators require external drivers, while limit cycles emerge from delayed feedback and nonlinearities. Coupling enables tissue‐level coherence, and entrainment aligns internal clocks with environmental cues.

A Duality Result for the Generalized Erlang Risk Model

open access: yesRisks, 2014
In this article, we consider the generalized Erlang risk model and its dual model. By using a conditional measure-preserving correspondence between the two models, we derive an identity for two interesting conditional probabilities.

Being for the other: The asymmetrical Christology of Rowan Williams

open access: yesVerbum et Ecclesia, 2020
What does it mean for the Christian Church to proclaim that God revealed Godself in Jesus Christ? This article tries to capture the answer given to this question by Rowans Williams, who defines and understands Christ as the ‘heart of creation’.
