Cross-phenomenological coefficients. Part 6.—Dufour effect in gases

Trans. Faraday Soc., 1966
An apparatus for the measurement of temperature gradients in gases when concentration gradients are imposed in the system has been described. The resulting ΔT have been measured for several pairs of gases. The results are interpreted on the basis of the thermodynamics of irreversible processes and the kinetic theory of Chapman and Enskog.

Soret and Dufour effects on thermohaline convection in rotating fluids

Geophysical & Astrophysical Fluid Dynamics, 2016
Using linear and weakly nonlinear stability theory, the effects of Soret and Dufour parameters are investigated on thermohaline convection in a horizontal layer of rotating fluid, specifically the ocean. Thermohaline circulation is important in mixing processes and contributes to heat and mass transports and hence the earth’s climate.

Aiding Flow Dufour effect and Viscous Dissipation in Square Porous annulus

Materials Today: Proceedings, 2020
Abstract Double diffusion is one of the important topics due to its varied applicability across many disciplines of science and engineering. The diffusion of heat as well as mass is a phenomenon which is governed by 3 mutually coupled equations. The Dufour effect is an effect where the heat transfer is affected due to existence of concentration ...

Soret and Dufour Effects on 3-D Rotating Hybrid Nanofluid

2022
The impact of the Dufour and Soret numbers on a hybrid nanofluid in a boundary layer area across a spinning sheet is presented in this paper. The collection of flow governing (PDEs) partial differential equations was turned into a system of (ODEs) ordinary differential equations, which are then solved utilising BVP4C code in MATLAB .

Opposing flow in square porous annulus: Influence of Dufour effect

AIP Conference Proceedings, 2016
Heat and mass transfer in porous medium is very important area of research which is also termed as double diffusive convection or thermo-solutal convection. The buoyancy ratio which is the ratio of thermal to concentration buoyancy can have negative values thus leading to opposing flow.

Buoyancy, Soret, Dufour, and Variable Property Effects in Silicon Epitaxy

Journal of Heat Transfer, 1991
In most of the previous numerical and semi-analytical studies of silicon epitaxial deposition, a common practice has been to neglect the buoyancy flow, Dufour, Soret, and property variation effects. In this paper, we take a critical look at the validity of that approach and point out some fallacies.

Onset of convection in binary gas mixtures: Role of the Dufour effect

Physical Review A, 1992
The stability behavior of the conductive state of binary gas mixtures in the Rayleigh-B\'enard setup is significantly altered in comparison to binary liquid mixtures due to their different thermodynamic and transport properties. In particular, the Dufour effect influences dramatically the topology and the existence ranges of the oscillatory and ...
