Comprehensive analysis of genomic mutations, gene expression, DNA methylation, and pathway analysis of TCGA data was carried out to define cancer types in which proteasome subunits expression is associated with worse survival. Albeit the effect of specific proteasome subunits on cellular function, the main role of the proteasome is better evaluated ...

On the dust temperatures of high redshift galaxies [PDF]
Dust temperature is an important property of the interstellar medium (ISM) of galaxies. It is required when converting (sub)millimeter broadband flux to total infrared luminosity (L_IR), and hence star formation rate, in high-z galaxies.

Overexpression of CHRDL2 in colon cancer cells makes them more stem‐like and resistant to chemo‐ and radiotherapy. CHRDL2‐high cells have upregulation of the WNT pathway, genes involved in the DNA damage response (DDR) pathway and epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EMT). This leads to quicker repair of damaged DNA and more cell migration.

Wind-Stress Dust Lifting in a Mars Global Circulation Model: Representation across Resolutions [PDF]
The formation of Martian dust storms is believed to be driven by dust lifting by near-surface wind stress (NSWS). Accurately representing this dust lifting within Mars Global Circulation Models (MGCMs) is important in order to gain a full understanding ...

Modelling dust processing and the evolution of grain sizes in the ISM using the method of moments
Interstellar dust grains do not have a single well-defined origin. Stars are demonstrably dust producers, but also efficient destroyers of cosmic dust. Dust destruction in the ISM is believed to be the result of SN shocks hitting the ambient ISM gas (and

Surface wettability of coal dust particles is an important factor restricting the efficiency of wet dust removal. Heterogeneous nucleation condensation on the surface of coal dust particles is a means without any pollution, without considering the ...

When you leave your home country, usually, you do not miss the country itself but the sense of belonging that being from somewhere grants you. Every immigrant knows intimately this particular yearning — even if you would not necessarily return to your “origin galaxy” you cannot help imagining what things could have been had certain circumstances had ...

Human cytomegalovirus infection is common in normal prostate epithelium, prostate tumor tissue, and prostate cancer cell lines. CMV promotes cell survival, proliferation, and androgen receptor signaling. Anti‐CMV pharmaceutical compounds in clinical use inhibited cell expansion in prostate cancer models in vitro and in vivo, motivating investigation ...

Dust production 680-850 million years after the Big Bang
Dust plays an important role in our understanding of the Universe, but it is not obvious yet how the dust in the distant universe was formed. I derived the dust yields per asymptotic giant branch (AGB) star and per supernova (SN) required to explain dust

Nonlinear Evolution of Instabilities Between Dust and Sound Waves [PDF]
We study the non-linear evolution of the acoustic 'Resonant Drag Instability' (RDI) using numerical simulations. The acoustic RDI is excited in a dust-gas mixture when dust grains stream through gas, interacting with sound waves to cause a linear ...
