Characterization of the key membrane protein cytochrome Cyc2 from Ghiorsea bivora
This study reports the first detailed biochemical analysis of Cyc2TAG1_1, a cytochrome protein involved in microbial iron oxidation. We produced and purified this enzyme in E. coli, then measured its iron‐oxidizing efficiency, and characterized its electrical and structural properties.

Global dust model intercomparison in AeroCom phase I [PDF]
This study presents the results of a broad intercomparison of a total of 15 global aerosol models within the AeroCom project. Each model is compared to observations related to desert dust aerosols, their direct radiative effect, and their impact on the ...

On the accuracy of mass and size measurements of young protoplanetary disks
Knowing the masses and sizes of protoplanetary disks is of fundamental importance for the contemporary theories of planet formation. However, their measurements are associated with large uncertainties. In this proof of concept study, we focus on the very

Intracerebral Hemorrhage Induces Monocyte TNF Signaling in Patients That Is Suppressed by BAF312
ABSTRACT Objective Intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) causes high morbidity and mortality, with neurotoxic inflammation driven by infiltrating monocytes. This study is an in‐depth longitudinal examination of the immune response during the first week of ICH in the presence and absence of the immunomodulatory drug BAF312 (Siponimod).

Galaxy formation by dust [PDF]
It has been known since the early 1940's that radiation can cause an instability in the interstellar medium. Absorbing dust particles in an isotropic radiation field shadow each other by a solid angle which is inversely proportional to the square of the ...

ABSTRACT Objective Neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (NMOSD) is a devastating neurological disease that lacks serological biomarkers that can accurately reflect disease activity. We established a live cell‐based assay (LCBA) using serum with endogenous complement to quantify the overall cytotoxicity, offering a novel functional tool for monitoring

Economic Analysis of a Water Truck for Feedyard Dust Suppression [PDF]
Dust created in feedyards can adversely affect cattle performance. Dust suppression can be accomplished by moistening pen surfaces with traveling gun(s) sprinklers, solid-set sprinklers, and water trucks.

Dust formation in common envelope binary interactions – II: 3D simulations with self-consistent dust formation [PDF]
ABSTRACT We performed numerical simulations of the common envelope (CE) interaction between thermally pulsing asymptotic giant branch (AGB) stars of 1.7 and 3.7 M$_{\odot }$, respectively, and a 0.6 M$_{\odot }$ compact companion. We use tabulated equations of state to take into account recombination energy. For the first time, formation

β‐Catenin/c‐Myc Axis Modulates Autophagy Response to Different Ammonia Concentrations
Ammonia, detoxified by the liver into urea and glutamine, impacts autophagy differently at varying levels. Low ammonia activates autophagy via c‐Myc and β‐catenin, while high levels suppress it. Using Huh7 cells and Spf‐ash mice, c‐Myc's role in cytoprotective autophagy is revealed, offering insights into hyperammonemia and potential therapeutic ...
