Enhancing Both TM- and TE-Polarized Light Extraction Efficiency of AlGaN-Based Deep Ultraviolet Light-Emitting Diode via Air Cavity Extractor With Vertical Sidewall

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2018
In this work, we investigate the effect of sidewall angle, height and space of an air cavity extractor (AC-Extractor) on the polarization-dependent light extraction efficiency (LEE) for AlGaN-based deep-ultraviolet light-emitting diodes (DUV LEDs) using ...

On the Impact of Electron Leakage on the Efficiency Droop for AlGaN Based Deep Ultraviolet Light Emitting Diodes

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2020
In this work, we have investigated the origin of efficiency droop for AlGaN-based deep ultraviolet light-emitting diodes (DUV LEDs). We find that the efficiency droop is likely to be caused by the electron leakage for DUV LEDs studied in this work.

Enhanced Light Extraction Efficiency and Modulation Bandwidth of Deep-Ultraviolet Light-Emitting Diodes with Al Nanospheres

open access: yesCrystals, 2022
Planar, nanopillar and Al nanosphere structure AlGaN-based deep-ultraviolet light-emitting diodes (DUV-LEDs) were numerically investigated via a three-dimensional finite difference time domain (3D FDTD) method.

Luminescent behavior of the K2SiF6:Mn4+ red phosphor at high fluxes and at the microscopic level [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Phosphor-converted white light-emitting diodes (LEDs) are becoming increasingly popular for general lighting. The non-rare-earth phosphorK(2)SiF(6): Mn4+, showing promising saturated red d-d-line emission, was investigated.

Mean-field optimal control and optimality conditions in the space of probability measures [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
We derive a framework to compute optimal controls for problems with states in the space of probability measures. Since many optimal control problems constrained by a system of ordinary differential equations (ODE) modelling interacting particles converge

Scalar modifications to gravity from unparticle effects may be testable

open access: yes, 2007
Interest has focussed recently on low energy implications of a nontrivial scale invariant sector of an effective field theory with an IR fixed point, manifest in terms of ``unparticles'' with peculiar properties.

Hybrid remote quantum dot/powder phosphor designs for display backlights [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Quantum dots are ideally suited for color conversion in light emitting diodes owing to their spectral tunability, high conversion efficiency and narrow emission bands.

Planar unclustered scale-free graphs as models for technological and biological networks

open access: yes, 2009
Many real life networks present an average path length logarithmic with the number of nodes and a degree distribution which follows a power law. Often these networks have also a modular and self-similar structure and, in some cases - usually associated ...

The Floor‐Ceiling‐Chip, or 2 × 2D = Pseudo‐3D—Approaching 3D Cell Morphology and Organization between Two Opposing 2D Substrates with Cell‐Adhesive Protein Micropatterns

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Here, we present a novel 3D cell patterning and culture platform. The “Floor‐Ceiling‐Chip” (FC‐Chip) consists of two opposing track‐etched membranes, creating a pseudo‐3D microenvironment for the cells in between. By providing the membranes with micropatterned cell‐adhesive islands of varying geometries and sizes, the FC‐Chip enables control over cell ...

Anomalous Photocurrent Reversal Due to Hole Traps in AlGaN-Based Deep-Ultraviolet Light-Emitting Diodes

open access: yesMicromachines, 2022
The trap states and defects near the active region in deep-ultraviolet (DUV) light-emitting diodes (LED) were investigated through wavelength-dependent photocurrent spectroscopy.
