Time after time – circadian clocks through the lens of oscillator theory

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Oscillator theory bridges physics and circadian biology. Damped oscillators require external drivers, while limit cycles emerge from delayed feedback and nonlinearities. Coupling enables tissue‐level coherence, and entrainment aligns internal clocks with environmental cues.

Non-stationary problem optimization using the primal-dual genetic algorithm [PDF]

open access: yes
This article is posted here with permission from IEEE - Copyright @ 2003 IEEEGenetic algorithms (GAs) have been widely used for stationary optimization problems where the fitness landscape does not change during the computation. However, the environments

Conserved structural motifs in PAS, LOV, and CRY proteins regulate circadian rhythms and are therapeutic targets

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cryptochrome and PAS/LOV proteins play intricate roles in circadian clocks where they act as both sensors and mediators of protein–protein interactions. Their ubiquitous presence in signaling networks has positioned them as targets for small‐molecule therapeutics. This review provides a structural introduction to these protein families.

A Roadmap of Mathematical Optimization for Visual SLAM in Dynamic Environments

open access: yesMathematics
The widespread application of robots in complex and dynamic environments demands that Visual SLAM is both robust and accurate. However, dynamic objects, varying illumination, and environmental complexity fundamentally challenge the static world ...

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

DMN-SLAM: Multi-MLPs Neural Implicit Representation SLAM for Dynamic Environments

open access: yesIEEE Access
Addressing the limitations of traditional V-SLAM in large-scale and dynamic environments, this paper proposes a multi-MLPs neural implicit representation SLAM in Dynamic Environments(DMN-SLAM), which leverages neural radiance fields to facilitate local ...

In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...
