On the Dynamical Interplay of Positive and Negative Affects

Neural Computation, 2017
Emotional disorders and psychological flourishing are the result of complex interactions between positive and negative affects that depend on external events and the subject’s internal representations. Based on psychological data, we mathematically model the dynamical balance between positive and negative affects as a function of the response to ...

Dynamic positioning systems

Proceedings of the 5th Nordic conference on Human-computer interaction: building bridges, 2008
This paper describes the first steps of a research project directed towards human computer interaction (HCI) within the maritime environment and on maritime equipment. The focus is at this stage mainly on interaction with Dynamic Positioning Systems (DP) and how new interaction styles can be introduced to make the interaction more efficient and less ...

Reduced Dynamics Need Not Be Completely Positive

Physical Review Letters, 1994
The reduced dynamics of a quantum system in contact with a reservoir is generally thought to be "completely positive"; this is certainly true if product initial conditions are used to define the dynamics. We show that with correlated initial conditions it need not be so.

Memory for position and dynamic representations.

Memory & cognition, 1993
Memory for the position of an object is biased. When asked to judge whether an object has changed its position with respect to a position shown a few milliseconds before, observers tend to detect the displacement more often when the displacement is not in the expected direction (downward for a falling object).

Dynamic Stability of a Dynamically Positioned Vessel

1971
Dynamic stability is one of the basic requirements which must be satisfied if the dynamic positioning system is to be successful.

Swarm Dynamics and Positive Dynamical Systems

2013
In this paper we model swarm dynamics by a nonautonomous linear system with row-stochastic matrices. It is shown that all birds approach the same velocity if their local interaction has the property that its intensity decays not too fast and its structure becomes not too loose. This mirrors in particular specific flight regimes.
