Directed evolution of enzymes at the crossroads of tradition and innovation
An iterative cycle of data‐driven enzyme optimization comprising four stages: genetic diversification of a template enzyme, expression of protein variants, high‐throughput evaluation, and machine‐learning‐guided redesign of the next variant library.

High temperature stress-strain data for SAE 5120 steel under various strain ratesDataverse
SAE 5120 is a low-alloy chromium steel widely used in automotive, aerospace, and construction industries for mechanically loaded components. To preserve its mechanical properties and prevent cracking or poor grain structure, it is typically hot-formed ...

Hyperosmotic stress triggers the relocation of the CFIm complex from the nucleus to the cytoplasm. This shift creates a nuclear ‘stoichiometric bottleneck’, limiting CFIm availability for mRNA processing. Consequently, specific mRNAs like NUDT21 and DICER1 undergo targeted 3′UTR shortening, demonstrating how spatial protein dynamics drive rapid ...

Sequential recovery of power system in cascading failure based on Recovery Probability Matrix
Cascading failure in power system may trigger extensive blackouts with severe societal consequences. This paper proposes a probabilistic recovery framework that centers on a Recovery Probability Matrix (RPM).

The dynamics of bicycles for disaster recovery and relief
Micromobility offers a potential pathway to strengthen urban disaster resilience by enabling the distribution of emergency supplies when infrastructure or transportation networks are compromised. This study examines the viability of micromobility vehicles for post-disaster relief via agent-based modeling and simulations in Stillwater, Oklahoma ...

Accurate and noninvasive prostate cancer detection using plasma‐derived extracellular vesicle RNA
Plasma extracellular vesicles were captured with WGA‐conjugated magnetic beads and profiled for RNA biomarkers. A three‐RNA panel (NM_024955, NR_047469, and NR_002564) distinguished prostate cancer from healthy controls and benign prostatic hyperplasia, supporting a simple, noninvasive approach to improve prostate cancer detection.

We report the first β‐glucosidase with demonstrated hydrolytic activity on an N‐linked glycopyranoside. The enzyme, native to maize, was biochemically characterised for this novel reaction, and structural modelling of the enzyme–substrate complex revealed several clues to the underlying reduced catalytic rate relative to its native O‐glycopyranoside ...
