Molecular mechanisms of early growth response protein‐1 (EGR‐1) expression by quercetin in INS‐1 beta‐cells

Journal of Cellular Biochemistry, 2012
AbstractEarly growth response‐1 (EGR‐1), one of immediate early response genes, is involved in diverse cellular response. We recently reported that quercetin increased catalytic subunit of γ‐glutamylcysteine ligase (GCLC) via the interaction of EGR‐1 to GCLC promoter in INS‐1 beta‐cells.

Early Growth Response Protein 1 (Egr-1): Prototype of a Zinc-finger Family of Transcription Factors

1995
Publisher Summary This chapter discusses the early growth response protein (Egr) gene family and its most extensively characterized member, Egr-1, first identified as an immediate-early gene responsive to growth factors and various differentiation cues, later confirmed to be a transcriptional regulatory protein.

Inhibition of endothelin-1 induced myocardial protein synthesis by an antisense oligonucleotide against the early growth response gene-1

Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 1991
We explored the role of the recently discovered "early growth response gene-1 (Egr-1)" in the induction of myocardial protein synthesis by endothelin-1. Endothelin-1 stimulated protein synthesis (i.e. 3H-phenylalanine incorporation) in isolated adult rat cardiomyocytes more than 2-fold.
