Cell‐cycle‐specific lesion evolution rather than inhibition of double‐strand‐break repair underpins cisplatin radiosensitization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We analyze cisplatin–DNA adducts (CDAs) and double‐strand breaks (DSBs) in a cell‐cycle‐dependent manner. We find that CDAs form similarly across all cell cycle phases. DSBs arise only in S‐phase. CDAs might not directly impair DSB repair, but S‐phase DSB lesions evolve in the presence of CDAs and disrupt repair in G2, also causing radiosensitization ...

Monitoring Diesel Spills in Freezing Seawater under Windy Conditions Using C-Band Polarimetric Radar

open access: yesRemote Sensing
The risk of oil spills in the Arctic is growing rapidly as anthropogenic activities increase due to climate-driven sea ice loss. Detecting and monitoring fuel spills in the marine environment is imperative for enacting an efficient response to mitigate ...

Observation Principles for an earth Observer

open access: yes, 2014
Phenomenalism from the Greek phainomenon (appearance) philosophically means any system of thought that has to with appearances. If the descriptions and conclusions for an observation are altered in any way by conditions of perception due to phenomenalism, discombobulating science is created.

Transcriptional profiling of circulating extracellular vesicles from prebiopsy prostate cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
RNA profiling of circulating extracellular vesicles (EVs) from blood samples of men undergoing prostate biopsy identifies transcripts associated with clinically significant prostate cancer. Integrative analysis with public tumor datasets links EV‐derived gene signatures to tumor stage and progression‐free survival, highlighting CASP3, XRCC2, and RIT1 ...

Using colored dissolved organic matter fluorescence to trace Pacific-derived water in the Eastern Canadian Arctic

open access: yesScientific Reports
Low-salinity Pacific Water (PW) entering the Arctic Ocean through the Bering Strait is the second largest source of freshwater to the Arctic Ocean and dominates the freshwater inventory of Baffin Bay due to PW advection through Nares Strait and the ...

VCM throughput analysis for Earth Observation satellites in LEO orbit

open access: yes, 2012
Since future systems will also be characterized by the on-board availability of a set of coding and modulation schemes at several spectral efficiencies and different SNR thresholds, the usage of Variable Coding Modulation (VCM) techniques can improve the

Development and Validation of a Dense 18-Year Time Series of Surface Water Fraction Estimates from MODIS for the Mediterranean Region

open access: yes, 2019
In this paper, we developed a time series of surface water fraction maps at 500 m spatial resolution and 8-day temporal resolution over 18 years (2000-2017) for the Mediterranean ...

Interpreting the effects of DNA polymerase variants at the structural level

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Using MAVISp and molecular dynamics simulations, we analyzed over 60 000 missense variants in POLE and POLD1 from ClinVar, COSMIC, cBioPortal, and saturation mutagenesis. Identified mechanistic indicators, including stability, binding, and long‐range, enable structural interpretation, providing ACMG‐like evidence for possible reclassification of VUS ...
