Bioprospection of Phytotoxic Plant-Derived Eudesmanolides and Guaianolides for the Control of Amaranthus viridis, Echinochloa crus-galli, and Lolium perenne Weeds. [PDF]

open access: yesJ Agric Food Chem
The phytotoxicities of a selection of eudesmanolides and guaianolides, including natural products and new derivatives obtained by semisynthesis from plant-isolated sesquiterpene lactones, were evaluated in bioassays against three weeds of concern in ...

Morphological Variation of the Ecotypes of Echinochloa Crus-galli Var Crus-galli (L). Beauv (Barnyard Grass: Poaceae) in Malaysia and Indonesia [PDF]

open access: yesBIOTROPIA, 2004
Greenhouse experiments were conducted to examine the morphological traits of barnyard grass ecotypes from diverse geographic origin. Seeds (caryopsis) were collected from 17 locations of rice fields throughout Malaysia (11 states) and Indonesia (six ...

Effect of fentrazamide on the growth, morphology and anatomy of Echinochloa crus-galli and Echinochloa oryzicola

open access: bronzeJournal of Pesticide Science, 2008
The effects of fentrazamide [4-(2-chlorophenyl)-N-cyclohexyl-N-ethyl-4,5-dihydro-5-oxo- 1H-tetrazole-1-carbox-amide] on the growth and morphology of Echinochloa crus-galli (L.) Beav. and Echinochloa oryzicola Vasing. were investigated. Fentrazamide at 250 g a.i.ha -1 showed high efficacy on weeds up to the 3-leaf stage.

Demographic Processes Allow Echinochloa crus-galli to Compensate Seed Losses by Seed Predation [PDF]

open access: goldAgronomy, 2021
The effect of weed management that targets the seed stage on subsequent life stages is largely unknown. Post-dispersal seed predation reduces the number of seeds from the soil surface before the seeds contribute to the seedbank.

Echinochloa crus-galli genome analysis provides insight into its adaptation and invasiveness as a weed. [PDF]

open access: yesNat Commun, 2017
Barnyardgrass (Echinochloa crus-galli) is a pernicious weed in agricultural fields worldwide. The molecular mechanisms underlying its success in the absence of human intervention are presently unknown.

Effect of salinity on Echinochloa crus-galli germination as affected by herbicide resistance

open access: goldItalian Journal of Agronomy, 2018
Salinity is one of the major abiotic stresses that may affect yield and quality of crops. Salinization, in combination with the presence of aggressive weeds, such as barnyard grass (Echinochloa spp.), can be considered one of the factors responsible for reducing yield in rice fields. The aims of the study were to evaluate the salt effect on germination
