Role of chemical termination in edge contact to graphene

open access: yesAPL Materials, 2014
Edge contacts to graphene can offer excellent contact properties. Role of different chemical terminations is examined by using ab initio density functional theory and quantum transport simulations. It is found that edge termination by group VI elements O

FEM Studies of CMP Retainer Ring Using Metamodel [PDF]

open access: yes한국정밀공학회지
This study introduces a novel retainer ring design aimed at mitigating the edge effect during chemical mechanical planarization. The innovative design features an arch-shaped geometry that creates a bending effect, thereby reducing excessive pressure on ...

A novel quinazolinone insulin receptor inhibitor and its synergy with an EGFR inhibitor in glucose‐driven glioblastoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The novel styrylquinazolinone‐based molecule W1B effectively suppresses glioblastoma by inhibiting IGF1R and EGFR. In high‐glucose microenvironments driving tumor resistance, W1B acts synergistically with the EGFR inhibitor dacomitinib. This combination safely blocks compensatory survival signaling in zebrafish xenograft models. Showcasing promising in

The effects of disordered edge and vanishing friction in microscale structural superlubric graphite contact

open access: yesNature Communications
Structural superlubricity (SSL), a state of ultralow friction and no wear between two solid surfaces in contact, offers a fundamental solution for reducing friction and wear. Recent studies find that the edge pinning of SSL contact dominates the friction.

An explicit solution to a three-dimensional wedge problem considering two edges effect

open access: yesFriction, 2019
The paper presents an explicit matrix algorithm to solve the problem of an elastic wedge with three loaded surfaces. The algorithm makes use of a recently published concept of transformation matrix, by which the original surface loads are converted to ...

Patient therapy outcome modeling in cancer organoids is improved by cancer‐associated fibroblasts and organoid assembly convolution

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Patient‐derived organoids (PDOs) from pancreatic, colorectal, and gastric cancers were used to evaluate standard and experimental therapies. Incorporating cancer‐associated fibroblasts (CAFs) into organoid cultures improved patient therapy outcome prediction.

Nuclear pore links Fob1‐dependent rDNA damage relocation to lifespan control

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Damaged rDNA accumulates at a specific perinuclear interface that couples nucleolar escape with nuclear envelope association. Nuclear pores at this site help inhibit Fob1‐induced rDNA instability. This spatial organization of damage handling supports a functional link between nuclear architecture, rDNA stability, and replicative lifespan in yeast.

A contact detection algorithm for polyhedrons based on improved common-plane concept

open access: yesScientific Reports
To address the inaccuracies in contact point calculation and low computational efficiency of traditional common-plane methods in complex contact scenarios, this study proposes an improved contact detection algorithm based on the common-plane concept.

Finite Element Modeling of an Elderly Person’s Cornea and Rigid Gas Permeable Contact Lenses for Presbyopic Patients

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2018
Rigid gas permeable (RGP) contact lenses are a common presbyopic correction tool. However, many patients clinically need a long period of adaptation after wearing.
