A simple EDXRF technique to analyse alloys

The European Physical Journal Applied Physics, 2002
A simple EDXRF technique to obtain the relative concentrations of different elements present in a sample is described here. Only those elements have been considered whose characteristic X-rays fall within the sensitivity range of the X-ray detector that we used.

ANALYSIS OF COPPER COINS BY EDXRF TECHNIQUE

International Journal of PIXE, 2004
Coins are important archaeological objects that can provide useful information regarding preparation methodology and provenance. Their classification plays a fundamental role in dating historical events, in constructing trade routes and in establishing the welfare of population.

Multielemental evaluation of garbage bags by EDXRF

International Journal of Environmental Analytical Chemistry, 2014
Garbage bags have been broadly used for collecting household waste in Brazil and worldwide. Many of these bags are made from recycled polymers, and the presence of harmful elements is a matter of concern. In this study, an energy dispersive X-ray fluorescence (EDXRF) approach for direct analysis of garbage bags is proposed. The concentrations of K, Ca,

Full spectrum calculations of EDXRF spectra

Powder Diffraction, 2006
Rapid and accurate methods are becoming available to calculate all of the relevant physical effects that contribute to an energy-dispersive X-ray fluorescence (EDXRF) spectrum, rather than just the characteristic line intensities given by the traditional fundamental parameters method. To evaluate the utility of such methods, we have calculated the full

Bremsstrahlung excited standardless EDXRF analysis

Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research Section B: Beam Interactions with Materials and Atoms, 2004
Abstract This paper demonstrates that samples can be directly exposed to an X-ray tube bremsstrahlung to obtain their elemental composition. For this purpose, the bremsstrahlung spectrum from an X-ray tube has been detected with a Si(Li) detector. A theoretical spectrum was generated which fitted well with the experimental one.

The Fast Analysis of Uranium Ore by EDXRF

Advances in X-ray Analysis, 1979
AbstractEnergy dispersive X-ray fluorescence (EDXRF) spectrometry has been applied to the high speed analysis of uranium ore for the purpose of grading and sorting truckloads of ore at the mine. The system is able to analyze uranium ore in less than 60 seconds with uranium levels ranging from < 0.005% to > 5% U3O8.

EDXRF analysis of Marajoara pubic covers

Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research Section B: Beam Interactions with Materials and Atoms, 2007
This work evaluated the elemental composition of decorated pottery pubic covers (tangas) from the Marajoara culture of Marajo Island (at the mouth of the Amazon River, Brazil) using EDXRF technique. The XRF system used in this work consists in a Si(Li) detector from ORTEC, with resolution of 180 eV, at 5.9 keV, and a mini X-ray tube with Mo anode.

EDXRF Spectroscopy of Ink-jet Materials

2005
Energy Dispersive X-Ray Fluorecsence (EDXRF) spectroscopy represent a qualitative analysis of the ash-samples. This method enables us to determine concentrations of elements in the ashes (Pb, Rb, Sr, Y, Zr, K, Ca, Ti, V, Cr, Mn, Fe, Ni, Cu, Zn, Co). Ash-samples were prepared from several different papers and also from Ink-Jet prints made on the same ...

An EDXRF study of the photodecomposition of diorganyl ditellurides

Radiation Physics and Chemistry, 2006
Abstract An EDXRF set-up has been used to generate mechanistic information on the photolytic and physicochemical events leading to deposition of free elements from various diorganyl ditellurides in different solvents and in a microemulsion system. The method is characterized by the use of 59.54 keV γ-rays as a monoenergetic radiation source and the ...

Determination of phosphorus in waste water by EDXRF

Fresenius' Journal of Analytical Chemistry, 1992
In a method developed for the determination of phosphorus in aqueous solutions, phosphorus was changed to the phosphate form, coprecipitated with hydrated iron(III) oxide, bound with activated charcoal and measured by EDXRF. The detection limit was 0.89 mg P/g activated charcoal.
