Improving the efficiency of a hollow ultrasonic motor by optimizing the stator’s effective electromechanical coupling coefficient

Review of Scientific Instruments, 2020
For application in control moment gyros, we considered a hollow traveling wave ultrasonic motor with a diameter of 70 mm. The effective electromechanical coupling coefficient (EMCC) of the stator was determined. The influence of the vibration mode of the stator and the structural dimensions of the metal elastomer and piezoelectric ceramic ring on the ...

Determining effective electromechanical coupling coefficient of ring-shaped piezoelectric transformer using coupled artificial neural networks

Integrated Ferroelectrics, 2016
ABSTRACTIn this work, two coupled Artificial Neural Networks (ANNs) were proposed to determine the first two higher-order resonant frequencies in radial vibrational modes and their associate effective electromechanical coupling coefficient (keff) of the ring-shaped piezoelectric transformer.

Incredible negative values of effective electromechanical coupling coefficient for surface acoustic waves in piezoelectrics

Ultrasonics, 2000
The extraordinary case of increase in velocity of surface acoustic waves (SAW) caused by electrical shorting of the surface of the superstrong piezoelectric crystal potassium niobate, KNbO3, is numerically found. The explanation of this effect is based on considering SAWs as coupled Rayleigh and Bleustein-Gulyaev modes.

Electrode influence on effective electromechanical coupling coefficient of thin film bulk acoustic resonators

Materials Research Innovations, 2014
In this paper, the finite element method was employed to study the electrode influence on the effective electromechanical coupling coefficient of thin film bulk acoustic resonators (FBARs). A three-dimensional FBAR model was built to characterise the resonator behaviour. The calculation results revealed that the electrode properties including electrode

On the optimizing of the effective electromechanical coupling coefficients of piezoceramic bodies

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1998
The effective electromechanical coupling coefficients are defined based on the expression for internal energy of a piezoceramic body. By means of this definition, conditions are obtained under which an effective coupling coefficient for any given deformation distribution can be maximized and shown to be equal to a corresponding coupling coefficient of ...

Effect of kerf filler on the electromechanical coupling coefficient of 1–3 piezoelectric composites

Journal of Alloys and Compounds, 2015
Abstract A unified formula has been derived to quantitatively describe the electromechanical coupling factor for the thickness mode of 1–3 piezoelectric composites with rectangular rod. The effect of different kerf filler on the electromechanical coupling factor is analyzed by varying the aspect ratio of piezoelectric rod and the elastic stiffness of

Crystallographic characteristics and effective electromechanical coupling coefficients of AlN thin films for FBAR applications

IEEE Symposium on Ultrasonics, 2003, 2004
In this study, AlN thin films for film bulk acoustic wave resonator (FBAR) device applications were investigated using facing targets sputtering system (FTS) and a DC power supply. The crystallographic characteristics, c-axis preferred orientations, and effective electromechanical coupling coefficients (K/sub 2//sup eff/) of such AlN thin films were ...

Advanced technologies of FBAR for tuning effective electromechanical coupling coefficient

Applied Physics Letters
The film bulk acoustic wave resonator (FBAR) is one of the most popular devices in the radio frequency field. Numerous researchers are simultaneously working to develop an effective electromechanical coupling coefficient (keff2) tuning technology, aiming to meet the diverse bandwidth requirements of the 5 G era.

Effects of specimen shape on the measurement of the electromechanical coupling coefficient in inclined electrodes

Electronics and Communications in Japan (Part II: Electronics), 1996
AbstractThe electromechanical coupling coefficient k can be determined by measuring the frequency characteristics of admittance. However, it is known that the specimen shape affects the measurement of the admittance frequency characteristics. In this paper, the finite element method was employed to investigate the effects of sample electrode ...
