Egg Product Yield Trends From Shell Eggs

open access: yesPoultry Science, 1977
Abstract Egg product yield data were pooled from several strains of chickens entered during a nine year test period (1966–1975). Information was obtained both quarterly and annually on egg size, distribution of components (shell, white and yolk) and percent of solids in white and yolk. Egg size decreased slightly.

Mechanisms of Aristolochic Acid Resistance in Specialist Butterflies and Evolutionary Insights for Potential Protective Pathways

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The study provides an extreme example of insect adaptation to highly toxic defenses of host plants, and investigates the complex strategies to resist carcinogenic aristolochic acids, including physical isolation, metabolic detoxification, and DNA repair.

Changes in Thickness and Weight of Shell Portion of Egg and in Weight and Size of Whole Egg during the Stay in the Uterine Part of the Oviduct (Shell Gland) in the Guineafowl: Comparison with White Leghorn Hens

open access: yesThe Journal of Poultry Science, 2002
The thickness and weight of the shell portion (shell with shell membrane) of eggs at various times during the stay in the uterus and at oviposition were found to be greater in the guineafowl than those in the chicken (White Leghorn).

A Photothermal‐Responsive PRP‐Loaded Hydrogel Engineered With Composite Nanobottle for Controllable Delivery of Growth Factors and Multifunctional Therapy of Diabetic Wounds

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A photothermal‐responsive engineered platelet‐rich plasma hydrogel (CNB‐ePRP) incorporated with thrombin‐functionalized composite nanobottle was developed, which enables in situ PRP activation, on‐demand growth factor release, multifunctionality, and personalized antimicrobial loading for treatment of diabetic wounds. The CNB‐ePRP hydrogel demonstrated

The chicken embryo and its micro environment during egg storage and early incubation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
When egg storage periods are prolonged (>7 days), hatchability and chick quality declines. The reason for this decline has been investigated, but is still not completely understood.

A ring trap for ultracold atoms [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
We propose a new kind of toroidal trap, designed for ultracold atoms. It relies on a combination of a magnetic trap for rf-dressed atoms, which creates a bubble-like trap, and a standing wave of light.
