Effects of Dietary Supplementation of Natural Pigments on Egg Yolk Color in Laying Hens.

Nowadays, intensely farmed poultry eggs show almost no differences in egg yolk and albumin compared with domestic layers. Annatto shrub grows rapidly to produce seeds coated with bixin and norbixin dyes which are used to color foods requiring no limits ...

Axial muscle‐fibre orientations in larval zebrafish
In 4 days post‐fertilization zebrafish larvae, the fast axial muscle fibres follow helical trajectories that taper towards the tail. Adjacent muscle fibres form substantial angles relative to each other to accommodate this pattern. Using a novel semi‐automatic method, we quantified 3D fibre angles over the whole muscle volume.

Development of the abdominal musculature in the chicken embryo
In this study, we investigate anatomy, morphogenesis, segmental origin, and fiber formation of the abdominal musculature in the chicken embryo. We show that abdominal muscles arise from somites 24 to 28, and that the segmental identity of individual fibers in the abdominal muscle sheets is maintained.

Alternative Protein Sources in Poultry and Pig Nutrition—A Review
ABSTRACT Proteins are an essential nutrient for the viability of all animals, enabling organisms to grow, regenerate and defend themselves against pathogenic organisms. Soybean and soybean‐based materials are commonly used to supplement protein in animal nutrition.

Here we explore the effects of elevated water conductivity on larval eastern hellbenders (Cryptobranchus a. alleganiensis), both lethal and sublethal. We found that elevated water conductivity significantly impacts both survival and morphology, though it has limited effects on locomotor performance, stress physiology, and oxidative stress.

Effects of Boiled Tomato Waste Utilization in the Diet on Serum Lipid Profile and Egg Quality of Laying-hens [PDF]
Objective: An experiment had been conducted to study the effects of boiled tomato waste utilization in the diet on the serum lipid profile: total cholesterol, low density lipoprotein (LDL), high density lipoprotein (HDL) and the egg quality (egg yolk ...
