Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

VISIBILITY OF PHOTO LUMINESCENT EGRESS SIGNAGE THROUGH SMOKE [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Assessing visibility as a mode of tenability is an important part of the fire engineering design of many building. Visibility through smoke is often predicted based on the visibility of the egress signage through smoke, as it is this signage which ...

Organizing the interface—Plasma membrane architecture and receptor dynamics in virus‐cell interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Plasma membranes contain dynamic nanoscale domains that organize lipids and receptors. Because viruses operate at similar scales, this architecture shapes early infection steps, including attachment, receptor engagement, and entry. Using influenza A virus and HIV‐1 as examples, we highlight how receptor nanoclusters, multivalent glycan interactions ...

Study of host cell egress by the parasite Leishmania amazonensis

open access: yes, 2010
Los parásitos del género Leishmania, son protozoarios intracelulares obligados que en su ciclo de vida incluyen un estadío en un hospedero vertebrado, dentro del cual se establece principalmente en macrófagos.

Epigenetic blind spots – the role of DNA methylation dynamics in stem cell‐based models of embryogenesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Embryo‐like structures (stembryos) are an innovative tool, but they are hindered by experimental variability and limited developmental potential. DNA methylation is crucial for mammalian development, but its status in stembryo models is poorly characterized.

The proposed CHAO substrate egress route.

open access: yes, 2013
Cartoon figure of CHAO (blue) showing the principal egress route for cyclohexanone identified by RAMD (yellow). The flexible loop covering the entrance cavity (residues 118–128) is colored red and two important residues along the egress path (F351 and ...
