The ribosome‐associated complex regulates cytosolic translation upon mitoprotein‐induced stress
Defects in mitochondrial protein import trigger a stress response. The contribution of translation regulation to such a response is only partially understood. We demonstrate that the deletion of mitochondrial surface proteins (TOM70/TOM71) leads to defects in mitochondrial biogenesis and slow growth.

Threats to protein synthesis activate the kinase GCN2, initiating the integrated stress response (ISR). GCN2 is triggered by stalled ribosomes and uncharged tRNAs, which accumulate when amino acids are scarce. The ISR adjusts cellular physiology by promoting redox balance, protein quality control, and mitochondrial optimisation.

The role of constitutive nitric‐oxide synthase in regulation of IKKα after ultraviolet irradiation
cNOS enhances IKKα expression following UVB exposure by promoting promoter activation, transcriptional elongation, and Ets‐1 stabilization. These actions sustain IKKα levels, reduce UV‐induced skin carcinogenesis, and highlight cNOS as a key protective factor against solar UV damage.
