Homozygosity for a variant in SLC10A2 and infancy onset severe fat‐soluble vitamin deficiency due to bile acid malabsorption

open access: yesJPGN Reports, EarlyView.
Abstract We present a case of a young female patient with persistent and severe fat‐soluble vitamin deficiency since infancy. Despite extensive investigations during childhood, the underlying cause remained elusive. The patient was generally asymptomatic while receiving continuous vitamin subsidy.

Clinical periodontal diagnosis

open access: yesPeriodontology 2000, EarlyView., 2023
Abstract Periodontal diseases include pathological conditions elicited by the presence of bacterial biofilms leading to a host response. In the diagnostic process, clinical signs such as bleeding on probing, development of periodontal pockets and gingival recessions, furcation involvement and presence of radiographic bone loss should be assessed prior ...

Hexagonal Boron Nitride Doped PVA Composite Nanofibers for Antimicrobial and Biocompatible Applications

open access: yesMacromolecular Materials and Engineering, EarlyView.
In this work, we investigate the structural and functional properties of PVA/BNNPs composite fibers, highlighting their excellent conductivity and biocompatibility. In vitro cytotoxicity and antibacterial tests indicate that PVA/BNNPs composite fibers are promising tissue scaffolds and tissue regeneration applications.

The role of the host—Neutrophil biology

open access: yesPeriodontology 2000, EarlyView., 2023
Abstract Neutrophilic polymorphonuclear leukocytes (neutrophils) are myeloid cells packed with lysosomal granules (hence also called granulocytes) that contain a formidable antimicrobial arsenal. They are terminally differentiated cells that play a critical role in acute and chronic inflammation, as well as in the resolution of inflammation and wound ...

Poly(amino acid) Synthesis from 2,5‐Diketopiperazines for Acid‐Actuated Drug Release

open access: yesMacromolecular Materials and Engineering, EarlyView.
The ring‐opening polymerization (ROP) of 2,5‐diketopiperazines (2,5‐DKPs) to yield poly(amino acids) is reported. This route to poly(amino acids) has circularity, and permits the straightforward production of nanoparticles for controlled release applications.

Origin and characterization of cyclodepsipeptides: Comprehensive structural approaches with focus on mass spectrometry analysis of alkali‐cationized molecular species

open access: yesMass Spectrometry Reviews, EarlyView.
Abstract Cyclodepsipeptides (CDPs) represent a huge family of chemically and structurally diverse molecules with a wide ability for molecular interactions. CDPs are cyclic peptide‐related natural products made up of both proteinogenic and nonproteinogenic amino acids linked by amide and ester bonds.
