Airway Management and Retrieval of a Large Ingested Foreign Body: A Case Report

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 8, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Large foreign body ingestion in patients with bulimia nervosa requires rapid airway‐focused retrieval and multidisciplinary care; awake fiberoptic intubation with video‐laryngoscopic extraction can safely avoid invasive surgery while psychiatric evaluation addresses recurrence risk.

Unraveling Spatiotemporal Heterogeneity and Driving Mechanism of Vegetation Recovery in Co‐Seismic Landslide Areas via Nonlinear Trajectories and Bayesian Networks

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 8, August 2026.
We developed an integrated GAM–Bayesian framework to diagnose the nonlinear recovery dynamics of vegetation in landslide‐affected areas. Our model reveals that most sites reached a key recovery inflection point within 5–7 years, with faster recovery occurring under warm, moist, and moderate light conditions.

Probiotic Stability and Antihypertensive Activity of Peptides in Aguamiel Syrup‐Fortified Milk Protein Fermented by Lacticasebacillus rhamnosus GG

open access: yeseFood, Volume 7, Issue 4, August 2026.
This study evaluates the impact of aguamiel syrup on a synbiotic fermented dairy product, focusing on antihypertensive peptide release and Lacticaseibacillus rhamnosus GG survival. While metabolic parameters remained unchanged, aguamiel syrup enhanced bioactive peptide production and antihypertensive activity (45.3%), suggesting its potential as a ...

Electroacupuncture Treatment on Sarcopenia in Patients Undergoing Maintenance Haemodialysis: An Effective Therapy

open access: yesJournal of Cachexia, Sarcopenia and Muscle, Volume 17, Issue 4, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Electroacupuncture (EA) treatment has been utilized for recovery from neuromuscular‐related diseases and may play a significant role in the treatment of sarcopenia. This interventional, randomized controlled clinical study aims to explore the efficacy of EA treatment in maintenance haemodialysis (MHD) patients with sarcopenia ...

Intangible drivers of tolerance shape human–elephant coexistence in Southwest China

open access: yesPeople and Nature, Volume 8, Issue 8, Page 2763-2780, August 2026.
Abstract Southwest China is home to a small but rapidly expanding population of Asian elephants (Elephas maximus), whose growth has intensified conflicts with people living in shared landscapes. These conflicts result in substantial economic losses and occasional human casualties. This coexistence paradox—where conservation success leads to significant

Testican‐1‐MMP axis in tumour extracellular matrix (ECM) remodelling: interaction dynamics analysis and an in silico perspective

open access: yesThe Journal of Pathology, Volume 269, Issue 4-5, Page 433-445, August 2026.
Abstract The extracellular matrix (ECM) plays a pivotal role in facilitating tumour development, invasiveness, metastasis, and immunoevasive processes through dynamic ECM remodelling processes. Testican‐1 (SPOCK1), an excretory matricellular proteoglycan, is suggested to exert a role in the facilitation of ECM remodelling processes through interacting ...

Spatial Heterogeneity and Nonlinear Influencing Mechanisms of Vegetation Carbon Sequestration Capacity in the Southwest China Karst Region

open access: yesEarth's Future, Volume 14, Issue 8, August 2026.
Abstract Understanding of the spatiotemporal dynamics of vegetation carbon sequestration capacity (VCSC) in Southwest China's contiguous karst region is critical for regional carbon cycling. Using MOD17A3 data from 2001 to 2023, we analyzed spatial heterogeneity in vegetation net primary productivity (NPP) and applied Geodetector to evaluate nonlinear ...
