Enhanced Li‐Ion Battery Performance with Hybrid MXene/GnR Electrodes: Heterojunctions and Engineered Architectures Supported by DFT Mechanistic Studies for Improved Rate Performance, Stability & Capacity

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Lithium‐ion batteries (LIBs) remain central to energy storage but suffer from slow ion transport and degradation. Here, we present a binder‐free Ti3C2Tx MXene/GnR hybrid electrode with a porous 3D architecture formed via freeze casting. The structure enhances conductivity, ion transport, and stability, delivering 401 mAh/g, ∼97% efficiency, and 92 ...

A microfluidics-integrated impedance/surface acoustic resonance tandem sensor

open access: yesSensing and Bio-Sensing Research, 2019
We demonstrate a dual sensor concept for lab-on-a-chip in-liquid sensing through integration of surface acoustic wave resonance (SAR) sensing with electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) in a single device.

Measuring individual overpotentials in an operating solid-oxide electrochemical cell

open access: yes, 2010
We use photo-electrons as a non-contact probe to measure local electrical potentials in a solid-oxide electrochemical cell. We characterize the cell in operando at near-ambient pressure using spatially-resolved X-ray photoemission spectroscopy.

Test of different sensitizing dyes in dye-sensitized solar cells based on Nb2O5 photoanodes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
High-performance dyes routinely employed in TiO2-based dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) were tested in cells assembled using Nb2O5 nanostructure-based photoanodes. The sensitizers were chosen among both metal-complex (two Ru-based, N749 and C106, and

Shape‐Controlled Guanine Self‐Assemblies for Stable and Fast‐Ion Solid–Electrolyte Interphases in Sustainable Li Metal Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The shape of guanine self‐assemblies is tuned by introducing alkyl (G8), fluoroalkyl (G8f), and oligoether (G8g) side chains into the G moiety. The scanning tunneling microscopy results and calculations show that the presence and type of the side chain strongly affect the G self‐assembly network.

Estimating electrical properties and the thickness of skin with electrical impedance spectroscopy: Mathematical analysis and measurements

open access: yesJournal of Electrical Bioimpedance, 2012
Electrical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) allows for the study and characterization of tissue alterations and properties associated with the skin. Here, the potential application of EIS to estimate the thickness of the stratum corneum is explored in the ...

Determination of Donepezil HCl Release from Electrospun Fiber by Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy

open access: yesInternational Journal of Electrochemical Science, 2016
Electrospun fibers of polyurethane [PU] and [PU/HPC] with or without drug loaded were successfully fabricated by electrospinning technique. The structures of the PU/ hydroxypropyl cellulose (HPC) electrospun fiber loaded with Donepezil (DP) were ...

Photoelectrochemical properties of mesoporous NiOx deposited on technical FTO via nanopowder sintering in conventional and plasma atmospheres [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Nanoporous nickel oxide (NiO x ) has been deposited with two different procedures of sintering (CS and RDS). Both samples display solid state oxidation at about 3.1 V vs Li+/Li.

In‐Situ Solution Complexation for n‐Type Surface‐Energetics Reconstruction in 2.0 eV Ultra‐Wide‐Bandgap Perovskite Solar Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A reactive in situ solution complexation strategy reconstructs the surface of 2.0 eV ultra‐wide‐bandgap perovskites via proton transfer. This chemical modulation eliminates metallic defects and induces a degenerate‐like n‐type surface, establishing an Ohmic tunneling contact.

Exploring faradaic and non-faradaic electrochemical impedance spectroscopy approaches in Parkinson's disease diagnosis

open access: yesHeliyon
Parkinson's disease is a neurodegenerative condition defined by the progressive death of dopaminergic neurons in the brain. The diagnosis of Parkinson's disease often uses time-consuming clinical evaluations and subjective assessments.
