Cryo-Electron Tomography and Subtomogram Averaging
Cryo-electron tomography (cryo-ET) allows 3D volumes to be reconstructed from a set of 2D projection images of a tilted biological sample. It allows densities to be resolved in 3D that would otherwise overlap in 2D projection images.

Analysis of Mitochondrial Membrane Protein Complexes by Electron Cryo-tomography
2017The visualization of membrane protein complexes in their natural membrane environment is a major goal in an emerging area of research termed structural cell biology. Such approaches provide important information on the spatial distribution of protein complexes in their resident cellular membrane systems and on the structural organization of multi ...

High-Throughput Electron Cryo-tomography of Protein Complexes and Their Assembly
2018Electron cryo-tomography and subtomogram averaging enable visualization of protein complexes in situ, in three dimensions, in a near-native frozen-hydrated state to nanometer resolutions. To achieve this, intact cells are vitrified and imaged over a range of tilts within an electron microscope.

Preparation of Bunyavirus-Infected Cells for Electron Cryo-Tomography
Cellular electron cryo-tomography (cryoET) produces high-resolution three-dimensional images of subcellular structures in a near-native frozen-hydrated state. These three-dimensional images are obtained by recording a series of two-dimensional tilt images on a transmission electron cryo-microscope that are subsequently back-projected to form a tomogram.Fanny Ott +3 more

In Situ Imaging and Structure Determination of Biomolecular Complexes Using Electron Cryo-Tomography
2020Electron cryo-tomography (cryo-ET) is a technique that allows the investigation of intact macromolecular complexes while they are in their cellular milieu. Over the years, cryo-ET has had a huge impact on our understanding of how large biomolecular complexes look like, how they assemble, disassemble, function, and evolve(d).
