Electrophilicities of Bissulfonyl Ethylenes
Chemistry – An Asian Journal, 2012AbstractKinetics of the reactions of bissulfonyl ethylenes with various carbanions, a sulfur ylide, and siloxyalkenes have been investigated photometrically at 20 °C. The second‐order rate constants have been combined with the known nucleophile‐ specific parameters N and sN for the nucleophiles to calculate the empirical electrophilicity parameters E ...

Radical electrophilicities in solvent
Theoretical Chemistry Accounts, 2012An electrophilicity scale for radicals in solution is reported using the electrophilicity index, an important quantity in conceptual density functional theory. Five different solvents were chosen, for which the static dielectric constant covers the entire range of nonpolar to polar solvents: n-hexane (er = 1.8819), dichloromethane (er = 8.9300), 2 ...

Direct Electrophilic Monofluoromethylation
Organic Letters, 2008Monofluoromethyl derivatives of various nucleophiles have been synthesized using a new electrophilic monofluoromethylating reagent developed. The S-(monofluoromethyl)diarylsulfonium tetrafluoroborate has been shown to be effective for the introduction of an electrophilic monofluoromethyl group into C, S, O, N, and P nucleophiles.

Current Opinion in Plant Biology, 2007
The interest in reactive electrophile species (RES) stems largely from the fact that they can have powerful biological activities. RES stimulate the expression of cell survival genes as well many other genes commonly upregulated in environmental stress and pathogenesis.

AbstractPolyunsaturated fatty acids are primary targets during oxidative stress. Diffusible electrophilic α,β‐unsaturated aldehydes, such as 4‐hydroxynonenal (HNE), have been shown to modify proteins that mediate cell signaling and modify gene expression pathways. We describe a global strategy for identifying the protein targets of HNE modification.

Electrophilicity Parameters for Benzylidenemalononitriles
The Journal of Organic Chemistry, 2003Kinetics of the reactions of stabilized carbanions (derived from nitroethane, diethyl malonate, ethyl cyanoacetate, ethyl acetoacetate, acetyl acetone) with benzylidenemalononitriles have been determined in dimethyl sulfoxide solution at 20 degrees C.

Electrophilic methane conversion
Accounts of Chemical Research, 1987Conversion of methane into substituted derivatives and higher hydrocarbons is a most desirable goal. If we survey the literature and current textbooks of organic chemistry,' they report pyrolytic and free -radical reactions (such as combustion , hydrogenation, nitration, sulfochlorination).2 These reactions show little selectivity , characteristic of ...

Are the Local Electrophilicity Descriptors Reliable Indicators of Global Electrophilicity Trends?
The Journal of Physical Chemistry A, 2005Density functional theory based global and local electrophilicity descriptors are used to study the reliability of local electrophilicity values of the strongest electrophilic sites in generating global intermolecular electrophilicity trends.

Reactions of aminomalononitrile with electrophiles
Journal of Molecular Evolution, 1975Aminomalononitrile (HCN trimer) reacts with electrophiles such as aldehydes and acrylonitrile under very mild conditions of temperature and pH to produce intermediates which, after acid hydrolysis, yield amino acids. The following amino acids have been identified and quantitated: glycine, D, L-erythro- and D, L-threo-beta - hydroxyaspartic acids, D, L ...
