Two Novel S‐methyltransferases Confer Dimethylsulfide Production in Actinomycetota

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study identifies two novel S‐adenosine‐methionine‐dependent methyltransferases, MddM1 and MddM2, in actinomycetes from the Mariana Trench. These enzymes can convert toxic hydrogen sulfide (H2S) and methanethiol (MeSH) into dimethylsulfide (DMS), serving as a cellular detoxification and oxidative stress response.

Promoting Autophagy Mitigates Stress‐Induced Remodeling in Patient iPSC‐CMs with the Phospholamban R9C Mutation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The Phospholamban (PLN) R9C mutation reduces SERCA2a binding, increasing calcium recycling and baseline contractility. However, the excess of free PLN promotes pentamer formation, limiting phosphorylation and blunting β‐adrenergic signaling. Under cardiac stress, enhanced functional demands overwhelm proteostasis in PLN R9C cells, leading to misfolded ...

Enhancement effect of urea toward electroporation-mediated plasmid transfection efficiency in the HEK-293 cell line

open access: yesResearch in Pharmaceutical Sciences
Intracellular delivery is crucial in biological and medical studies. Although many molecular tools have been created for cell-based gene therapies, it remains challenging to introduce external molecules into cells.

Reversible Electroporation–Mediated Liposomal Doxorubicin Delivery to Tumors Can Be Monitored With Zr-Labeled Reporter Nanoparticles

open access: yesMolecular Imaging, 2018
Reversible electroporation (RE) can facilitate nanoparticle delivery to tumors through direct transfection and from changes in vascular permeability. We investigated a radiolabeled liposomal nanoparticle ( 89 Zr-NRep) for monitoring RE-mediated liposomal

Unraveling the Morphological and Functional Maturation Mechanisms Underlying Human Neural Development Using iPSCs‐Derived Neuronal Model

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Using human induced pluripotent stem cells (hiPSCs)‐derived neuronal model, Tian and colleagues reveal that voltage‐gated calcium channels Cav1.2 and Cav1.3, and their mediated calcium ion influx, are essential for early morphogenesis of human neuronal development, while ECEL1 underlies human neuronal functional developmental maturation through CALM3 ...
