Synthetic cells are engineered herein to respond to an external chemical messenger by the activation of intracellular catalysis. The chemical messenger molecules are catalytically generated by an extracellular enzyme or a mineral surface, whereas the intracellular catalysis emerges via direct enzyme activation or via protein refolding.

DESIREE electrospray ion source test bench and setup for Collision Induced Dissociation experiments [PDF]
We give a detailed description of an electrospray ion source test bench and a single-pass setup for ion fragmentation studies at the DESIREE infrastructure at Stockholm University. This arrangement allows for collision induced dissociation experiments at center-of-mass energies between 10 eV and 1 keV.

Analysis of cell membrane aminophospholipids as isotope-tagged derivatives
Glycerophosphoethanolamine (GPEtn) and glycerophosphoserine (GPSer) lipids were reacted with a multiplexed set of differentially isotopically enriched N-methylpiperazine acetic acid N-hydroxysuccinimide ester reagents, which place isobaric mass labels at

Arylstibonic acids [H₈(RSb)₁₂O₂₈]; precursors to organometallic isopolyoxostibonates [Na₂H₉(RSb)₁₂O₃₀]-, (R = aryl). [PDF]
Electrospray ionisation mass spectrometry shows that arylstibonic acids, RSbO₃H₂, give rise to oxo-bridged clusters derived from [H₈(RSb)₁₂O₂₈] which act as inorganic crown ligands towards Na+ cations; structure determination of one derivative revealed a

The Chemical Reactions in Electrosprays of Water Do Not Always Correspond to Those at the Pristine Air-Water Interface [PDF]
The recent application of electrosprays to characterize the air-water interface, along with the reports on dramatically accelerated chemical reactions in aqueous electrosprays, have sparked a broad interest. Herein, we report on complementary laboratory and in silico experiments tracking the oligomerization of isoprene, an important biogenic gas, in ...

Numerical Simulation of Jet Mode in Electrospraying of Newtonian and Viscoelastic Fluids [PDF]
The purpose of this article is to explore the role of viscoelastic properties of polymeric solutions on the jet mode in the electrospray process. In this research, several numerical simulations were performed to model the behavior of electrified Newtonian and viscoelastic jets.

In this study, a novel cationic peptide, IW is designed and synthesized, with a tandem‐repeat sequence demonstrating potent activities against a broad spectrum of clinically relevant Carbapenem‐resistant Enterobacteriaceae in both the planktonic and biofilm states. IW is then formulated with P407 to form IW‐P407 colloids.
