Fast and Sensitive Ellipsometry-Based Biosensing

open access: yesSensors, 2017
In this work, a biosensing method based on in situ, fast, and sensitive measurements of ellipsometric parameters (Ψ, ∆) is proposed. Bare silicon wafer substrate is functionalized and used to bind biomolecules in the solution.

Ultrafast dynamics of hot charge carriers in an oxide semiconductor probed by femtosecond spectroscopic ellipsometry

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics, 2020
Many linked processes occur concurrently in strongly excited semiconductors, such as interband and intraband absorption, scattering of electrons and holes by the heated lattice, Pauli blocking, bandgap renormalization and the formation of Mahan excitons.

Analog Weight Update Rule in Ferroelectric Hafnia, Using picoJoule Programming Pulses

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, EarlyView.
Resistive, ferroelectric synaptic weights based on BEOL‐compatible hafnia/zirconia nanolaminates are fabricated. Lateral downscaling the devices below 10 µm2 enables 20 ns programming with electrical pulses, dissipating ≤ 3 pJ. Experimental results show that final conductance state is set by pulse amplitude, and is largely independent of the initial ...

Silicon Nitride Resistive Memories

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, EarlyView.
Amorphous SiNx is an attractive resistance switching material for ReRAM applications due to its physicochemical properties, such as humidity resistance, low oxygen diffusivity, and is used as a metal diffusion blocker. By modifying the ratio between N and Si atoms, the microstructure of the SiNx is affected, rendering it possible to change the ...

Detection of Duck Hepatitis Virus Serotype1 By Biosensor Based on Imaging Ellipsometry

open access: yes, 2011
A novel method for the detection of duck hepatitis virus serotype1 (DHV1) using a biosensor based on imaging ellipsometry (IE) is developed. Polyclonal antibodies against DHV1 were immobilized on silicon wafers through protein A and used to capture virus

A Perspective on Ellipsometry

open access: yes, 1976
Two distinct and general definitions of ellipsometry and polarimetry are stated ab initio that account for the existing duality in usage of both terms. Ellipsometers and polarimeters are next defined accordingly.

Zinc Sulfide Enabling Remarkable Surface Passivation of Crystalline Silicon

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, EarlyView.
Polycrystalline ZnS films capped by Al2O3 provide outstanding surface passivation performance. The excellent lattice agreement between c‐Si and ZnS combined with a hydrogenation step result in extremely low interface state density (≈ 1×1010 cm−2 eV−1) and recombination current pre‐factor (1.0 fA/cm2), revealing a new passivation strategy for ...

Structure and Spectroscopic Characterisation of Phenanthroline‐Based Iodobismuthate(III) Complexes Utilised for Raw Acoustic Signal Classification

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Discovery, EarlyView.
Memristors based on trimethylsulfonium (phenanthroline)tetraiodobismuthate have been utilised as a nonlinear node in a delayed feedback reservoir. This system allowed an efficient classification of acoustic signals, namely differentiation of vocalisation of the brushtail possum (Trichosurus vulpecula).

Characterization of Receptor Binding Profiles of Influenza A Viruses Using An Ellipsometry-Based Label-Free Glycan Microarray Assay Platform

open access: yesBiomolecules, 2015
A key step leading to influenza viral infection is the highly specific binding of a viral spike protein, hemagglutinin (HA), with an extracellular glycan receptor of a host cell. Detailed and timely characterization of virus-receptor binding profiles may
