Flare Hybrids [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Svestka (Solar Phys. 1989, 121, 399) on the basis of the Solar Maximum Mission observations introduced a new class of flares, the so-called flare hybrids.

A Triple‐Nanoparticle System for Controlled Graphene Nanosheet Stacking: Enabling K/Na‐Ion Battery Anodes with Ultra‐Fast Charging Exceeding Petroleum Vehicle Refueling

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Large‐ion (K, Na) battery systems mitigate uneven global lithium distribution, while their ability to attain recharge time shorter than refueling would remove the final barrier for secondary batteries to replace petroleum vehicles. However, their large‐ion chemistry makes ultra‐fast charging an even significant challenge.

Investigation of characteristics as endodontic sealer of novel experimental elastin-like polypeptide-based mineral trioxide aggregate

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2021
Although mineral trioxide aggregates (MTA) have been adopted as an endodontic sealer because of excellent sealing effect and bioactive property and been modified with improvement of its characteristics, the developed MTA sealers have not yet satisfied ...

Multicanonical Study of Coarse-Grained Off-Lattice Models for Folding Heteropolymers

open access: yes, 2005
We have performed multicanonical simulations of hydrophobic-hydrophilic heteropolymers with two simple effective, coarse-grained off-lattice models to study the influence of specific interactions in the models on conformational transitions of selected ...

Self‐Immolative Gels: Programmable Degradation Using Self‐Immolative Linkers and Polymers

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
Self‐immolative linkers and polymers undergo bond‐cleaving reaction cascades in response to specific stimuli. Their incorporation into gels can be harnessed to release cargo, induce property changes, or trigger degradation in a highly controlled manner. These functions can be employed in applications such as sensing and drug delivery.

Protection of Ducklings from Duck Hepatitis A Virus Infection with ELPylated Duck Interferon-α

open access: yesViruses, 2022
Duck viral hepatitis type I (DVH I) is a lethal disease in ducklings caused by duck hepatitis A virus (DHAV). Although the commercial vaccine is available for vaccination of one-day-old ducklings or breeder ducks, the disease is still prevalent due to ...

The A-theoretic Farrell–Jones conjecture for virtually solvable groups

open access: yes, 2017
We prove the A -theoretic Farrell–Jones conjecture for virtually solvable groups. As a corollary, we obtain that the conjecture holds for S -arithmetic groups and lattices in almost connected Lie ...

Importance of understanding variable and transient energy demand in large multi-product industrial plants for process integration [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
There have been some news releases claiming that Professor Henle in Germany has found the chemical identity of UMF, and that in future chemical analysis will be used instead of assays of antibacterial activity to indicate the level of UMF in manuka honey.
