Lipofection improves gene targeting efficiency in E14 TG2a mouse embryonic stem cells [PDF]
Electroporation has been the method of election for transfection of murine embryonic stem cells for over 15 years; however, it is a time consuming protocol because it requires large amounts of DNA and cells, as well as expensive and delicate equipment ...

Small SSEA-4-positive cells from human ovarian cell cultures: related to embryonic stem cells and germinal lineage? [PDF]
Background: It has already been found that very small embyronic-like stem cells (VSELs) are present in adult human tissues and organs. The aim of this study was to find if there exists any similar population of cells in cell cultures of reproductive ...

Self-renewal of pluripotent embryonic stem cells is mediated via activation of STAT3.
The propagation of embryonic stem (ES) cells in an undifferentiated pluripotent state is dependent on leukemia inhibitory factor (LIF) or related cytokines. These factors act through receptor complexes containing the signal transducer gp130.

Tunable Synthetic Hydrogel Modulates Hepatic Lineage Specification of Human Liver Organoid
In this study, a synthetic hydrogel is reported that supports the formation of hiPSC‐derived human liver organoids (HLOs). Hepatic lineage specification can be modulated via conjugation of RGD peptide to hydrogel: RGD‐conjugated hydrogels promote cholangiocyte differentiation, whereas RGD‐free hydrogels favor hepatocyte commitment of HLO cells.

Spinal cord injury (SCI) poses significant challenges for regeneration due to a series of secondary injury mechanisms. How to use biomaterial approach to target the failed regeneration after SCI remains a critical challenge. This review systematically evaluates current strategies to optimize biomaterial topographies for neurite outgrowth, axonal ...

Conventional pluripotency markers are unspecific for bovine embryonic-derived cell-lines [PDF]
Bovine embryonic stem cells are of potentially big value in transgenic research and studies of lineage commitment and development. Nevertheless, key aspects of the establishment of bovine embryonic stem cells such as the identification of specific ...

Hypoxia Signaling Pathway in Stem Cell Regulation: Good and Evil [PDF]
Purpose of Review: This review summarizes the role of hypoxia and hypoxia-inducible factors (HIFs) in the regulation of stem cell biology, specifically focusing on maintenance, differentiation, and stress responses in the context of several stem cell ...

This study demonstrates that the dual delivery of BMP‐2/‐7 coding cmRNAs for bone healing is demonstrated as feasible, safe, and highly osteogenic. Compared to single BMP‐2 or BMP‐7 cmRNAs, the combination enhances the production of both mineral and organic components of the extracellular matrix when delivered using a collagen‐HA scaffold, supporting ...

A miniaturized, label‐free, and enzyme‐free biosensor (miR‐TFT) enables direct electrical detection of microRNA (miRNA) with single‐nucleotide specificity and a detection limit of 0.6 fM. Built on a tri‐channel In2O3/ZnO heterojunction and functionalized with bespoke peptide nucleic acid (PNA) probes, the device is robust, reusable, and compatible with
