Restriction of Individual Branched‐Chain Amino Acids has Distinct Effects on the Development and Progression of Alzheimer's Disease in 3xTg Mice

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Protein restriction (PR) slows Alzheimer's disease (AD) in mice, and other benefits of PR are due to decreased branched‐chain amino acids (BCAAs). We show that restricting any BCAA has benefits, with sex‐ and BCAA‐specific impacts on pathology, molecular signaling, and cognition.

Deciphering and Targeting the Schwannoma‐Neuron‐Macrophage Crosstalk for the Treatment of Schwannomatosis and Associated Pain

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We established patient‐derived SWN cell lines and orthotopic PDX models that recapitulate patient pain phenotypes, alongside a novel intravital DRG imaging platform to track macrophage infiltration and neuronal pain responses. Using these models, we define HMGB1–CCL2–IL‐6 signaling crosstalk driving pain and identify EGF signaling as a key regulator of

A Study Concerning Soft Computing Approaches for Stock Price Forecasting

open access: yesAxioms, 2019
Financial time-series are well known for their non-linearity and non-stationarity nature. The application of conventional econometric models in prediction can incur significant errors.

Coordination of Cyanobacterial Nitrate Assimilation and Photosynthesis by a Novel PsbO‐Interacting Protein PirN

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
PirN was identified as a previously uncharacterized PsbO‐interacting protein specifically induced in nitrate‐grown cyanobacteria. Loss of PirN leads to coordinated downregulation of PsbO and the nitrate reductase NarB, causing decreased PSII activity and impaired growth under nitrate conditions. Complementation with either PsbO or NarB largely restores

Non-traumatic chest pain in patients presenting to an urban emergency Department in sub Saharan Africa: a prospective cohort study in Tanzania. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
BACKGROUND:Non-traumatic chest pain (NTCP) is a common reason for emergency department (ED) attendance in high-income countries, with the primary concern focused on life threatening cardiovascular diseases.

Development and Structural Characterization of UTE‐156, a Covalent Inhibitor of the VCP/p97 AAA+ ATPase

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The AAA+ ATPase Valosin‐containing protein (VCP/p97) regulates protein homeostasis by unfolding ubiquitinated substrates. Here, we describe UTE‐156, a novel irreversible covalent inhibitor that modifies Cys522 in the D2 ATPase motor domain. Although its pharmacochemical limitations preclude immediate therapeutic use, UTE‐156 serves as a valuable ...

Fault Diagnosis of Wind Turbine Double-Fed Induction Generator Based on Multi-Level Fusion and Measurement of Back-to-Back Converter Current Signal

open access: yesIranian Journal of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, 2022
One of the major faults in Doubly-Fed Induction Generator (DFIG) is the Inter-Turn Short Circuit (ITSC) fault. This fault leads to an asymmetry between phases and causes problems to the normal state between current lines.

Facilitation of dragonfly target-detecting neurons by slow moving features on continuous paths

open access: yesFrontiers in Neural Circuits, 2012
Dragonflies detect and pursue targets such as other insects for feeding and conspecific interaction. They have a class of neurons highly specialised for this task in their lobula, the ‘small target motion detecting’ (STMD) neurons.

T Cell Exhaustion in Cancer Immunotherapy: Heterogeneity, Mechanisms, and Therapeutic Opportunities

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
T cell exhaustion limits immunotherapy efficacy. This article delineates its progression from stem‐like to terminally exhausted states, governed by persistent antigen, transcription factors, epigenetics, and metabolism. It maps the exhaustion landscape in the TME and proposes integrated reversal strategies, providing a translational roadmap to overcome

Fast Ensemble Empirical Mode Decomposition Using the Savitzky Golay filter

open access: yesAlgerian Journal of Signals and Systems, 2016
Empirical mode decomposition (EMD) is a powerful algorithm proposed to analysis of nonlinear and non-stationary signals. The phenomenon of mode mixing is one of the major disadvantages of the EMD.
