Airway Decision‐Making in Acute Epiglottitis: A Case Report of Planned Tracheostomy in a Can Ventilate but Cannot Intubate (CVCI) Scenario

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 6, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Acute epiglottitis is a life‐threatening emergency characterized by rapid airway obstruction and challenging airway management due to severe supraglottic edema. We report the case of a 22‐year‐old man who presented with acute epiglottitis complicated by extensive neck edema, inspiratory stridor, and progressive respiratory distress.

Programmed Cell Death in Chronic Rhinosinusitis

open access: yesClinical and Translational Allergy, Volume 16, Issue 6, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS) is a prevalent upper respiratory condition characterized by a multifaceted etiology involving various cellular and molecular processes. In recent years, researchers have increasingly recognized the significance of different forms of programmed cell death (PCD), such as apoptosis and pyroptosis, in the pathological ...

Pharmacokinetic Drug–Drug Interaction Potential of Oral Anticancer Drugs

open access: yesClinical Pharmacology &Therapeutics, Volume 119, Issue 6, Page 1614-1627, June 2026.
Drug–drug interaction (DDI) management is critical for safe and effective use of oral anticancer drugs (OADs). Our study objectives were to (i) compile clinically relevant pharmacokinetic (PK) DDI mechanisms for OADs and (ii) assess the prevalence of PK potential DDIs (PDDIs) in patients with advanced solid cancers.

Cytologic Findings in Esophageal Perforation: An Institutional Experience With Pleural Fluid Specimens

open access: yesDiagnostic Cytopathology, Volume 54, Issue 6, Page 429-435, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Introduction Esophageal perforation (EP) is a rare but life‐threatening condition, and most cases are due to iatrogenic causes. The rest occur spontaneously, due to malignancies, or trauma. The mortality rates can approach 50%, and delayed diagnosis of EP exacerbates patient outcomes.

Protective Effect of Thai Perilla frutescens Seed Oil Against Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease Induced by Cigarette Smoke Extract in a Mouse Model

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 14, Issue 6, June 2026.
PSO exhibited protective effects against CSE‐induced pulmonary inflammation by reducing macrophage and eosinophil infiltration, preventing alveolar destruction, and enhancing antioxidant defense by lowering serum MDA levels in a murine COPD model. These findings support the potential role as a dietary supplement for the prevention or attenuation of ...

Clinical Profiles and Therapeutic Interventions in Occult Paraquat Poisoning: A Comparative Report of Two Cases [PDF]

open access: yesClin Case Rep
ABSTRACT Delayed diagnosis invariably worsens outcomes in occult paraquat poisoning regardless of exposure route. Implement early urinary screening for suspected cases. Tailor antioxidant and anti‐fibrotic timing to toxicokinetic patterns to mitigate irreversible pulmonary damage.
