Influence of Key Processes on the Aroma Formation of Cicada Black Tea [PDF]

open access: yesFoods
Cicada black tea is made from Empoasca onukii-infested tea leaves. The biochemical differences between Cicada black tea and regular black tea, and the dynamic changes in volatile components during processing, remain unclear.

Effects of Geraniol on Survival, Reproduction, Endophytes, and Transcriptome of Tea Green Leafhoppers (Empoasca onukii)

open access: yesAgronomy
Herbivore-induced plant volatiles (HIPVs) serve as powerful defense mechanisms that help plants mitigate pest-induced stress. Geraniol is a HIPV released by tea leaves in response to damage inflicted by tea green leafhoppers.

Evaluation on the Control Effects of Different Biogenic Pesticides Mixed with Metarhizium anisopliae CQMa421 on Empoasca onukii Matsuda

open access: yesGuangdong nongye kexue
【Objective】The field control effects of different biogenic pesticides on Empoasca onukii Matsuda (tea green leafhopper) was investigated, with an aim to provide a basis for the rational application of pesticides in tea gardens.【Method】Using a five-point ...

Clarification of the Identity of the Tea Green Leafhopper Based on Morphological Comparison between Chinese and Japanese Specimens. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2015
Tea green leafhopper is one of the most dominant pests in major tea production regions of East Asia. This species has been variously identified as Empoasca vitis (Goëthe), Jacobiasca formosana (Paoli) and Empoasca onukii Matsuda in Mainland China, Taiwan

Population genetics and ecological niche modelling provide insights into management strategies of the herbivorous pest Phytomyza horticola (Diptera: Agromyzidae)

open access: yesDiversity and Distributions, Volume 29, Issue 11, Page 1371-1387, November 2023., 2023
Abstract Aim Research on population genetic patterns and potential distribution dynamics can provide insights into the development of pest management strategies. Herein, we integrated population genetic analyses with the climatic niche approach to investigate spatial population genetic variations and potential geographical distribution (PGD) of the ...

Volatilome and proteome responses to Colletotrichum lindemuthianum infection in a moderately resistant and a susceptible bean genotype

open access: yesPhysiologia Plantarum, Volume 175, Issue 5, September/October 2023., 2023
Abstract We analyzed the changes in the volatilome, proteome, stomatal conductance, salicylic and jasmonic acid contents of a susceptible and a moderately resistant genotype of common bean, Phaseoulus vulgaris L., challenged with Colletotrichum lindemuthianum, the causal agent of fungal anthracnose. Our results indicate differences at both proteome and

Mitogenomic phylogeny of Typhlocybinae (Hemiptera: Cicadellidae) reveals homoplasy in tribal diagnostic morphological traits

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 12, Issue 6, June 2022., 2022
We studied the evolutional relationships of Typhlocybinae based on 47 typhlocybine mitogenomic dataset representing all currently recognized tribes. The Ancestral character state reconstruction suggests that some morphological characters (fore‐ and hind wing patterns) traditionally considered important for diagnosing typhlocybine tribes are homoplastic.

A comparative analysis of spider prey spectra analyzed through the next‐generation sequencing of individual and mixed DNA samples

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 11, Issue 21, Page 15444-15454, November 2021., 2021
Individual DNA sample sequencing obtains the accurate prey spectrum of spiders. Mixed DNA sample sequencing underestimates the prey spectrum of spiders. Individual and mixed DNA sample sequencing obtains almost the same relative abundance of prey sequences of spiders.

Effects of different tea plantation management systems on arthropod assemblages and network structure

open access: yesEcosphere, Volume 12, Issue 7, July 2021., 2021
Abstract Tea plantations are intensive monocultures and vulnerable to various pests due to a low diversity of natural enemies. In ancient tea plantations, the trees have grown for hundreds of years in mixed stands with many native trees, resulting in a landscape deemed as a “forest tea plantation.” However, no empirical studies have explicitly examined
