Change in Japanese Encephalitis Virus Distribution,Thailand

open access: yesEmerging Infectious Diseases, 2008

Effect of blood meals and mating on biodemographic characteristics of Aedes albopictus

open access: yesPhysiological Entomology, Volume 51, Issue 3, Page 446-459, September 2026.
Lifespan did not differ between virgin and mated males and females. The number of blood meals (one and two) significantly reduced adult lifespan compared with those with no blood meal. The effect of the second blood meal doubled females' egg production and their reproductive output.

The Host Cell Factor Phosphatase‐2A Subunit PR130 Restricts Replication of Herpes Simplex Virus Type‐1

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 44, 7 August 2026.
Molecular, genetic, virological, and biochemical analysis in combination with global proteome and phosphoproteome profiling and functional assays were applied to study the role of PR130 in the context of HSV‐1 replication. The observations reveal that host‐intrinsic mechanisms regulate HSV‐1 replication and highlight PR130 as a susceptibility factor of

Antibody Responses in Pediatric Dengue Indicate Emergence and Co‐Circulation of DENV‐3 Genotypes I and III in Myanmar and Orthoflavivirus Cross‐Reactivity

open access: yesJournal of Medical Virology, Volume 98, Issue 8, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Dengue virus (DENV) remains a major public health concern in Southeast Asia, disproportionately affecting children. In Myanmar, DENV‐3 Genotype III predominated before 2017, with Genotype I emerging thereafter. To assess the impact of this emergence on antibody responses, we analyzed paired acute and convalescent serum samples from 38 ...

Associations of Inherited Chromosomally‐Integrated Human Herpesvirus 6 With Dementia Incidence, Inflammation, and Other Dementia Risk Factors in the UK Biobank

open access: yesJournal of Medical Virology, Volume 98, Issue 8, August 2026.
ABSTRACT The infection theory of dementia states that viral infections and chronic inflammation play a role in its pathogenesis. We aimed to test whether testing positive for inherited chromosomally‐integrated human herpesvirus 6 (iciHHV‐6) is associated with an increased dementia incidence, inflammation, and other dementia risk factors. We included n =

One Health Insights From Pteropus medius: Nipah Virus Spillover, Microbiota, and Antimicrobial Resistance

open access: yesMicrobiologyOpen, Volume 15, Issue 4, August 2026.
Environmental and anthropogenic drivers of antibiotic resistance dissemination. The cycle reinforces how anthropogenic inputs, such as sewage, animal dung, hospital effluent, and agricultural runoff bring resistant bacteria and antibiotic residues into soil and water.

Metagenomic sequencing reveals viral diversity of mosquitoes from Shandong Province, China

open access: yesMicrobiology Spectrum
Mosquitoes carry a large number of known and unknown viruses, some of which could cause serious diseases in humans or animals. Metagenomic sequencing for mosquito viromes is crucial for understanding the evolutionary history of viruses and preventing ...

Effectiveness of Amenamevir Vs. Valacyclovir in Preventing Herpes Zoster‐Related Hospitalization and Complications: A Target Trial Emulation Using a Large Japanese Claims Database

open access: yesThe Journal of Dermatology, Volume 53, Issue 8, Page 1115-1123, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Amenamevir is a novel anti‐herpes zoster drug that is increasingly used in Japan because of its once‐daily administration and lack of renal dose adjustment requirements. However, evidence of its clinical effectiveness is limited. This study aimed to estimate the clinical effectiveness of amenamevir vs. valacyclovir in preventing zoster‐related
